mysql/php error

I’m trying to run phpNuke, but when I try to run the admin.php file, I get
the following error:

Warning: Access denied for user: ‘root@localhost’ (Using password: NO) in
/home/sites/site15/web/mainfile.php on line 17 Unable to select database

using phpMyAdmin, how can I view the username and password for a
particular database I recently created?

The password is encrypted, so you are not able to view the password. If
you have root access to mysql (via phpmyadmin or whatever), you can create
or remove the users. So you should probably delete the user that you want
to change the password for and then recreate it. Or maybe just recreating
it will change it if you are using it as root. Anyways, user management is
not built into phpmyadmin, so you need the hack which adds that
capability. let me know if you need it.

The error you got said that no password was used, so that means a password
needs to be set in the script for it to work.

THANK YOU! Could you send me that hack that will give me user management.
I can’t see how to set a password in phpMyAdmin, so I must not have it
installed.

TIA

You can get the hacked phpmyadmin here: http://gilby.com/phpmyadmin.tar.gz

Just decompress it in it’s own directory (make the directory first), then
modify the config.inc.php file to have your password in it. I’d recommend
that you use the advanced authentication, especially if you have others
that have access to your system. To do this first put your root password
in the config file and create a user that has only select privileges using
phpmyadmin. Give that a random password that you do not need to remember
and is different from any other passwords you use. Then put that in your
config file and the advanced auth will allow you to log into phpmyadmin as
any user that is set up and only the databases that that user was given
permissions to do anything with will be visible to them.

If you want to. The file has the entire phpmyadmin in it… if you
overwrite your old one, make sure you remove any htaccess files in there
if you do the advanced auth. Also, I didn’t mention that for the advanced
auth, you make the user with only select privileges on the mysql table.

It’s a web-based gui that helps you manage MySQL databases. Pretty much
allows you to do anything with your MySQL databases… create, edit,
view, etc.

Why would you want to do that through the web when you can use a free,
real windows program such as MySQLAdmin? (www.mysqladmin.de)

It’s remote on the same system of the mysql server and is cross platform.
You can access it from anywhere. If you are an ISP, you can set up your
users their own database and they can access it from the web.
