My new gun old west repro

Ruger New Vaquero, single action, fixed sites. .357 magnum/.38. I might get into Cowboy Action Shooting; they hold the state championships right down the road from my house.

nice peice. my grandpa has somhing pf the sort. $$$?

Nice gun. My dad has a revolver in the same caliber but it is a double action, a very accurate gun with mild kick and decent power.

I have considered selling one of my shotguns to get one. I don’t need a handgun but I don’t need 3 shotguns either.

Only problem is transporting them here in Canada.

very nice, what does cowboy action shooting entail?

Clint Eastwood movies.

shooting single action revolvers as fast and accurate as possible.

I haven’t gotten the bill yet, just gave a down payment. Here in New York, you gotta jump through a couple hoops to get a gun, even if you already have a pistol permit. The guy said it should run me about $525.

Cowboy Action Shooting does involve old west reproduction (or a functional antique) revolvers, but most matches also require the shooters use old-fashioned shotguns and pistol-caliber lever-action rifles. All “stages” are timed and the shooter will try to hit targets while running between western-themed building facades (saloon, sheriff’s office, etc.) Each scenario has a backstory. Like you’re a good guy deputy who’s helping the Earps track down the Clantons and McLaurys, they kidnap a damsel on the way to the OK Corral, etc. etc. You run into the saloon where you stashed your shotgun, pick it up and shoot at the steel targets, which represent the bad guys. It’s a lot of fun, every shooter has to dress the part of whatever 1800’s alias they choose. If I chose to be a saloon girl, I’d have to dress old-west slutty. If you chose an Indian chief, you’d show up at the shoot in buckskin leggings, etc. Most of the guys wear cowboy boots & hat, long-sleeved shirts, jeans, vest, suspenders.

It’s sort of like an old-west themed paintball game, but with real guns and real ammo.

Wow… not too long ago you were thinking about buying your first pistol, now you’re thinking about blastin’ your first masked bandit. Guess the gun bug bit you?

I have a cap and ball revolver that’s a replica of a Navy pistol from the late 1800s… takes a while to load but it sure is a BLAST to shoot!

Have you ever heard of a guy named Bob Munden. The fasted quick draw that’s ever lived. He lives in Butte Montana and will do trigger and hammer jobs on single actions colt and ruggers. If you really get into it you might consider having him do a little work.

I live less then an hour from Butte and have not heard of him…

That’s standard everyday dress for some people out here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Try the internet

he’s on the internet with a sight he has videos which are really quite incredible to watch and get you wanting to practice.

Having met you at Fluck, I already knew that.

They probably still have those scratches in the gym floor that your boots left.
