Fantastic…I love the things you learn when trolling around in old threads. RAH one of my favorite writers of all time, and the blind musician a great character. TEFL, SIASL, and TMIAHM were definitely bibles for a while.
I use DJM as a Quickie name. That is my Real Name. David John Mason. When I registed back in January, I forgot to change it back to David_Mason instead of DJM as my username. (I wish I was now been called David_Mason as my username) I use DJM as a nick-name. Mind you I don’t mind it now and then if someone calls me DJM. But I still preferred to be called David instead of DJM.
I followed a similar strategy, but took it one step further by using someone else’s name entirely. My real name is Trixie Majorack, RN, but for purposes of anonymity I decided to borrow the name of someone I greatly respect, Tom Blackwood. I would have used the underscore trick too like john_childs, but my right pinky finger was injured and in a splint on the day I set up my account, so I couldn’t get to that key whilst touch-typing.
zelda was like one of my favorite games so i did z(elda)freak220. the 220 has no real meaning other than just sounding cool. pronounced two-twenty but the t sorta becomes silent. i thought it was a pretty cool sn so i decided to keep it.
Well, habbywall was my other one.
Habby was teh nickname of my favorite NHL goalie, he was like a wall so it became habbywall.
I needed a new one so I went to my word of the day widget and up came sobriquet, It meant nickname, so I thought that it was the perfect name and in perfect timing.
well, i like nordic skiing a lot. not classic though, skate is where it’s at. Uni is short for unicycle, betcha’ guys didn’t know that. and 420 is well, 420.
my AIM s/n is “live not live” i thought of it becuase there are two words that are spelled as “live” so it’s open to interpretation.
my screen name, burjzyntski, is a combination of my last name (burzynski) with my first two initials (j for joseph, and t for thomas). pretty simple, really.
pronounced just the way you think it is
people called me ‘Polac’ throughout middle school, and ‘goofy bastard’ more than once, but ‘lanky’ is a word that always seems to pop up.
