Last night my guinea pig died. He was 6 years and 7 months old.
This is him when he was about 4
Sorry to hear.
He looks nice in that picture.
Sorry to hear of your loss. That seems pretty old for a GP, did you have two? GPs love companions.
We had two GP deaths so far.
The first was many years ago. We found a live GP behind our wood pile! Had no idea where it came from (later found out our neighbor had been playing with it in their back yard, it ran off and they never looked for it). We got a cage and kept it, one day my wife came home and it was dead. We think our then-toddler may have accidentally loved it to death by squeezing it or dropping it earlier in the day.
We lost our second one a couple months ago. We gave two to our youngest for Christmas two years ago. One was clearly young and still growing and the other was clearly an adult of unknown age. Kids named them Mocha and Taffy because of thier coloring. Over a couple weeks Taffy got progressively skinnier and died. She’s buried in the back, with grave marker.
A few weeks later we got new babies off Craigs List. Now we’ve got Mocha, Soda, Pop, and Frank.
I’m Sorry for your loss.
That sucks.
My sisters have two GPs.
I also have a mastiff named Mocha. Here are pics.
The first one is after she had surgery to remove her tail. She must have gotten it shut in a door or something and she got an infection in it. The vet says it’s almost impossible to heal it, so we had to get it cut off. We weren’t too sad, because when she got real happy and her tail was wagging, it was like a whip! It was especialy bad for us boys!:o
the second one is her laying down, belive it or not she sleeps like that!
She looks like she just lost a boxing match.
we used to have 3 guinea pigs. They were all the same age. 1 died when he was about 2 because he got mites and he scratched himself heaps and started bleeding so we had him put down.
Then last year Teddy got mites as well and we had to put him down.
So now we got no guinea pigs left. But 6 and a half years is pretty old.
we used to have GP’s. we started off with two and they breed and breed, we had 12 at one stage. but then a few got eaten by a dog, and one was attacked by a snake, then we gave the rest away.
shit man, i heart you. pets are the worst things to loose because you always feel slightly responsible. sounds like it had a sweet life though, especially for nearly on 7 years! put my in the eulogy(sp?)
I know what it’s like to lose a pet… I’m sorry for your loss.
aw mate …so sorry to hear
My sister had a GP a while ago and it was my job to put it in its cage thing before school. It was a rainy day, I was walking with the GP to its cage when suddenly it wriggled out of my hand and I dropped it and accidently stood on it. It was ok, but suddenly it wriggled out of my hand again, I dropped it again and stood on it again. My sister still makes me feel guilty for it but in a joking way. This is a true story. Ha it sounds funny like on tv. Oh and by the way sorry about you GP.
Shame:(
I dread the day when my rats die.
I used to have 4 rats: Joey (my first), Greyhound (lived with Joey), Sniffles (lived with Greyhound and Joey), and Timmy (lived with Greyhound after Joey and Sniffles died).
Joey and Sniffles both caught an unidentifiable disease at around the same time, both dying soon after conception. Just before they caught the disease, I bought Timmy, a beautiful show quality rat, from a breeder. He was quite young, and lived with the old yet very healthy Greyhound. After many months of having Greyhound and Timmy, I decided to give them both, along with my huge 4ft tall cage, back to Timmy’s breeder due to lack of time to care for them. I talked to the breeder a few weeks after giving the rats to her, and she said that Greyhound really dominated the cage he was in, while Timmy hung around him a lot. Almost like brothers! I’m sure they’re both passed away by now, as all this happened quite a few years ago.
Rats make such good pets:D
I’m sorry your piggie died. It’s so sad but it sounds like he lived a nice long life. Now I have to go hug my piggies. One is over 5 and losing her hair and the other one is 4 and a half. I might even have to wake up the dog and hug him too.
