My First Street Magic Special

I went out to the mall last night with my new camera and filmed my first street magic special.

Its called “On the Streets with ChexJC”

I couldn’t get it on youtube…so heres the rapidshare download if anyones interested.

Its really funny and entertaining if you’re bored

can’t wait.

I love street magiks.

hmm it wont let me watch it…you should try to get it on youtube…

are you on penguin magic or anything?
i used to frequent the forums there back when i was big into magic…
when i say big into magic i mean big…i did trade shows, company parties, i worked some big venues around colorado…then i kinda dropped out of the stage magic genre after blowing out my left knee and losing about 3 months worth of stage shows. i started doing street magic/closeup and liked it alot more…
then i started doing restraunts and stuff and made some good money doing that…then after a tragic death of one of my magic mentors i kinda fell away from magic…i still do parties for freinds or family if they ask me to…but i kinda fell out of magic…

(edit: i just realized that i kinda made it sound like i blew out my knee in a magic related accident…but i did that snowboarding haha…)

Haha nah i’m not with penguin magic or anything. How come its not working?

I just watched it, that was cool.

I kinda know how you do some of those tricks, I just don’t know what technique you use which kinda defeats the purpose of knowing how you do them.

I’m watching it right now, it’s good…for your Ambitious Card Routine, you should slow down a little though, build up slowly for each time it jumps back to the top. For the part where you have the spectator stick the card back in the deck, I like to make him/her turn the top card over, it makes it seem more real if the spectator is touching the cards a lot.
For the Invisible Deck, my people never chose the Ace of Spades…I got a real one. And actually it’s not hard to make your own, I’ll tell you how in a PM if you’d like.
But yeah you’re really good! I should get back into magic…it’s so much fun.

Thanks for the advice! Yea i was just a little nervous and couldn’t really slow down as much as i wanted to. Did you buy Crash Course 2? Because it sounds like you are giving me advice straight from that video lol.

Hehe yeah, I do own Crash Course 2…I was never too good at performing to strangers either.

my computer is just lame and wont play it i guess…

i highly suggest you purchase “on the spot with gregory wilson” it is a fantastic 2 tape set with loads of great impromtu type street magic on it.
it is possible to base a whole routine around these tapes. it will up the ante of your street performances because you will be doing magic with the spectators belongings. it really freaks people out when some magic happens to an ordinary object that they KNOW cant be a gimmick.

You know what is REALLY good is any watch-stealing routine. I only ever did it once, but it was flippin SWEET.

yesss watch stealing will transform you in the eyes of the audience into much more than a magician.

i have a fun watch/belt stealing routine.

lol. I don’t do any watch stealing routines…it takes a lot of practice to be that good at misdirection. I downloaded that “on the spot” dvd from limewire, its pretty cool. Magicians and Pickpockets are two different things gkmac. When a magician makes a watch vanish, he’ll make it reappear.

Nice watch btw

You’re taking this a little too seriously…sure there are pickpockets who would steal someone’s watch or wallet for personal gain, but any actual magician (like us here) get the watch off of someone’s wrist without them noticing, then end the routine saying, “oh, by the way, I think this is yours.” and pull it out of their back pocket to give it back. So don’t accuse someone of being an untrustworthy pickpocket aka thief until they actually do anything deserving such a title.
Also, these “egotistic manipulators” actually use a gimmicked wristwatch that is designed for the effect of stopping instantly, not someone else’s own watch with “rather powerful magnets.” Do some research before getting “extremely furious.”

A magician looks at their spectators watch before deciding to do a watch steal routine to decide if it is easy or even possible. It needs to be a hook and eye style watch, and of course if it’s heavy the spectator will notice a difference, so a magician wouldn’t do it. Your uncle sounds like quite the prude if he wants to put someone in jail for doing some fun magic tricks with no harmful intentions…

awesome video, you have to jump through some hoops to download it. Keep on learning new stuff.

Nothing, but save your put downs till he or she does become a pick pocket.

True, so you can call this person a thief if you want, but don’t hold negative connotations to that word because you know perfectly well that a magician is not a bad person for doing this simple effect.

I stand corrected, and apologize. I did know about the M5 but didn’t know they used it to stop spectators watches…there are also gimmick watches built specifically for this effect though.
Anyway, I don’t really like all these negative vibes I’m feeling, so I’m done fighting…you believe what you want, and I believe what I want, and there it is

I guess you could call the magician a thief…but like James just said, you know it is not the magician’s intention to actually steal your watch…he is merely borrowing it for an effect. I don’t do things like that anyway, you never know how someone may react when you get all close to them and start touching them.

Thanks carsonpalooza!
