My Cat Eye Unicycle Bell doesn't ring

My Cat Eye Unicycle Bell doesn’t ring.

It worked fine, then it stopped.

Anyone else experience this?

Should this be on Rec.Sport?

The forum demands pictures.

I suspect if there was a bell-end section of the forum, most of Billy’s posts would end up there.

Probably got it at Walmart…

I should have posted this on Rec.Sport. Too many wise guys here.

My boomerang won’t come back.

Anyone else experience this?

Don’t worry Billy, there are still plenty of people who would like to Ring Your Bell.

just for billy

seriously, you can’t even google it to find out how to fix a broken bike bell.

Only once.

so funny I forgot to laugh

Assuming this is a real request (and risking looking a fool for missing an in-joke)…

The usual thing that goes wrong with a bike bell is that the bell part (usually the outside casing) gets damped by touching something else, and can’t ring, so you just get a dead thud. Assuming there’s nothing else touching it, it’s often just because they get screwed down too tightly - see if you can rotate the bell a bit and find a position where it rings. Or it could be slightly bent and touching the mount on one side, but that should be visible.

If it’s the “ping” type of bell, there’s not a lot else that can be wrong. If it’s the more traditional geared “ring-ring” kind then the mechanism could be stuck or stripped (that would be obvious from the feel), or sometimes the little weights that actually hit the inside of the bell when they spin can get stuck (rusty or gummed up with hardened grease) so they don’t fly out far enough (they should be loose on the end of the spinning arms).

When I see Billy post the word “seriously” I start to worry.

Haven’t you heard of Bell helmets? Safety first damn it!

False advertising.

Every time I hit my head it goes “thud” not “ding”.

Ah yes, but don’t forget you’ve got brains to fill your head, hence the thud noise.

Billy, on the other hand, has a completely empty head, hence a nice resonant ringing noise upon contact.

My bell rings just fine.

Billy, you should use one of these

You just made me blue. :frowning:

Thanks!

Once again, I have inadvertently inspired an amusing thread.

I want to thank the FEW of you who actually attempted to offer helpful advice.

I fixed it.

Somehow the bell got moved too far UP on the unicycle handle, so the finger pull did not have enough movement, as it was up against the “T.” I was taking it off to repair it, and right away as soon as it had room to move, it started working.

may this post inspire even more levity at my expense.:stuck_out_tongue:
