For my birthday I got a beautiful bombproof case for my digital video camera. It’s the perfect fit and is so strong that you can drive a car over it without braking it! It’s airtight, watertight, and dustproof…and nice and compact. here are some photos.
Yeh, a muni-ing friend of mine suggested the other day that we get some sort of case made up (he does that sort of work) so that we can put the camera in it and simply ride over the case (among other things).
I sewed together a few layers of neoprene from my wetsuit to make storage areas for a tripod, batteries, and memory. This ended up working perfectly (although I was out of black thread) as it prevents the goods from rattling around, and also presses the camers more firmly into place, with the strap unable to pass the ribs on either side.
The first pic shows the cubbies I cut out, and the second pic is taken from within the case on a self timer.
It’s such a bulky package like this though, that I only use it while uni’ing. A ‘normal’ carrying case will due for the majority of the time.
edit: for all you ‘minor details in photos finders’: what sort of notes (other than ‘quite messy’) are shown in the notebook?
I agree that Pelican Cases are awsome. I’ve used, one or about 5 years for my digital camera, mostly on whitewater river trips. It can’t be hurt. I’ve had mine fall off a cliff, bounce off rocks and tumble into the river (while closed) and go 1/4 mile down a nasty rapid, fish it out, and the camera was fine. Totally water proof, impact proof. Plus the high visabilty colors (mine it yellow) make it easy to follow when outdoor crazyness ensues, such as the above story.
