Music

Does anyone listen to music while riding? I use my iPod and I tend to be ride better with some Miles Davis playing. Does anyone else listen while they ride, what music helps you ride?

I use my ipod a lot and I listen to gatsby’s american dream, from first to last, or saosin most of the time when I’m riding.

I’d be too scared I would fall on whatever music player I would use.

I want to try it though.

Until they make an iPod from the material used for the Black Box in an airplane, I don’t really see it happening for me.

But maybe we can teach the members of Jethro Tull to ride MUni and play simultaneously. I’ll bet Ian Anderson could ride some serious Muni while singing Aqualung.

distance riding I often use my iPod. but NEVER trials or MUni. I hurt myself badly, and I’m fine with that, but I really would rather not smash my iPod.

I still use my old Sony discman for distance riding…never for Muni…
Usually some metal stuff…with high tempo…Though the best time was when I did a midnight ride…While the whole world( basically my neighbourhood) slept a lone unicyclist patrolled the streets to the tunes or Nirvana…

haha yah my empay (mp3 player) as me and drew call it, i use it alot while riding…works well…small, its the Creative Muvo TX 512mb i want a gig but i dunno if they sell em yet…it makes long rides in the cold better…specialy if you got gangster beats playing…eihter that or for painting haha

When riding solo, I do much better with music. I can work to a rhythm.

why not make the entire plane out of the black box material? lol

yeah i listen to my Mp3 player when riding, much smaller then an ipod and it still holds 200 songs so its all good.

i like riding to sweatshop union or something harder like the shizit.

I wish I had an MP3 player period. But I have ridden listening to my mini radio. Its good when its good music, you can get really into riding to music.

There are plenty of Ipod protective cases out there such as this one LiliPod which is a bit much for me I think I’ll be buying Isee case so that I can still control the ipod while it’s in the case. lol. :sunglasses:

I like to Jam out to the roots, and anything Alien ant farm, really sets the mood. The first 34 seconds of Franz Ferdinands “Take me out” is friggin awesome. Also wierd al’s Hardware store. I ride with a little MP3 player about the size of my fist it’s on a lnyard under my shirt.

I don’t think so. I am subscribed to Creative’s newletter. The Muvo
V200 was announced just yesterday for early May, still with 512 MB.

Correction: When I clicked the link for more info, it appeared that
there are 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB versions. Only the 512 MB was
mentioned in the newsletter.

Re: Re: Music

I use the old fashioned walk man, and listen to music, but mostly lecture tapes, while uni & Juggling 3 clubs. Music or lecture is just to stave off boredom as the mile wear on.

You listen to the Roots? Yeah my favorite Album is Come Alive. I also listen to Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Roy Hargrove, Miles Davis, Nicholas Payton, Marcus Miller, and a lot more jazz and hip hop

yea i have just a shuffle-just listen to like eminem, yeah yeah yeahs, killers, pod- stuff like that

I’ve only ridden once with my Ipod. It was great. I just went out on my own one night on my Muni along some tracks.
You can get a good speed up just riding in time with the music.

I was listening to Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Killers, Simple Plan, Hoobastank and Blink 182 to name a few.

Going to ride more with music, but its rather anti-social when ur riding with other people.

Joe,

Just be smart about where and when you listen to tunes as you ride. It’s not a good idea to be listening to headphones while riding amongst traffic or along a bike path. You need to be able to hear what’s around you for your safety and the safety of others. Same thing when muniing. If there is a MTB behind you trying to pass it is important for your safety and the safety of the mountain biker that you be able to hear him as he passes so you don’t collide.

My pet peeve is joggers listening to headphones as they run along a bike path. “On your left… On your left… ON YOUR LEFT! Good God get out of the middle of the path.” It does no good to shout out warnings when the idiot can’t hear you. Fortunately my Coker comes equipped with a battering ram just in case one of those tuned out joggers decides to veer into my path as I pass.

And what’s the deal with iPods? The iPod cannot play gapless, meaning that it will have a bit of silence between tracks even if those tracks are supposed to run together with no gap. How can you enjoy albums like Dark Side Of The Moon, The Wall, live concert albums, and classical music albums when there are gaps between tracks that are supposed to flow smoothly from one to the other? Why are people paying several hundred dollars for a music player that cannot play Pink Floyd the way God intended the album to be played? Some people consider the iPod to be a status symbol. I consider it to be a symbol for idiots who don’t appreciate Pink Floyd, live concert albums, and classical music.

That is the funniest comment I have read all week.
