MUni

Hi,
I was wondering about a couple of things to get discussions going.

What is the craziest thing you have tried in MUni, or Uni trials?
Does anybody have a wish list for upgrading and buying a MUni? What kind of stuff do you plan on getting?

-Evan

Oh yeah, anyone seen Profile Racing’s design for their MUni frame? They show it right on their site. Not for sale yet, though; too bad!!

> Does anybody have a wish list for upgrading and buying a MUni?

I would like:

A 55mm wide rim to keep those fat tires from folding during sidehops.

A disc hub for my Profile axle.

A suspension seat post with 3" of travel that will fit into a standard
unicycle frame. (Adjustable rebound and damping would be cool, too, but
maybe not needed.)

A 22x3.5" Gazzaloddi.

A frame that quick releases from the wheel.

A set of full-fingered Harbinger 110G gloves.

I’ve seen it- it’s pretty basic. It would be much better to just use their
axle and stick with Unicycle.com unicycles for now.

Cheers,

Kris.

Agreed

Hi,
I will agree, the frame is rather simple. But, I enjoy hearing news of expansion in MUni and Uni Trials, companies, and riders newest stunts. I would like to see it grow and flourish.

I came from BMX to do MUni and Uni trials, and to blow away peoples minds at what I will strive to do. So having a BMX orientated company, well known in BMXer’s hearts, I think it is cool.

-Evan, everyone go out and go crazy on yur uni’s today!

I personally would like a Splined profile hub and cranks for my MUni. I
would also like a Sun Doublewide rim. And some Roach body armor that wasnt
way to short.

Lucky for me these are possible it I had some money. Too bad Im 14
and too lazy to get a job. oh well.

So I’m not the only one!! I still haven’t figured out how to keep them up
on my knees, so I still get knee wounds when I’m wearing my Roach gear.

Chris

You can order them custom to any length you specify. Mine are over an inch
longer than usual and fit nicely.

15

Dingeman,
I am 15, so I feel young a too lazy also. But, I am currently trying to get a whole new set-up, so I can kill everything and not worry about what is going to break!
-Evan

Well Im 14, and I have a problem with breakin cranks. I have broken at
least 8 or 9 pairs of cranks sense january or so. kinda weird cuz 5 of
those were on my freesytle unicycle. of course I have broken a pair of
pedals, 2 miyata seats in a week, and a rim for that too. On my monty/
MUni seat I have broken the bumper off twice. Another 2 piars of cranks on
my Monty. Yet anther 2 on my MUni. and I broke a seat post on my MUni, but
that doesnt seem all that suprising. oh well.

    -Max Dingemans

Number one on my wish list is for tapered hubs and tapered cranks to die
the same death that cottered hubs have. In the future all unicycles shall
come with ISIS Drive splined hubs and there shall be an ample selection of
unicycle cranks using the ISIS Drive spline in a wide variety of lengths
and strength.

If I ever find a genie who gives me three wishes, that will be one of
them.

The ISIS Drive is a new spline standard designed by Truvativ, Race Face,
and some other companies. It’s a royalty free design and open for other
companies to make compatible cranks and hubs.

See the following links for more info on the ISIS Drive
http://www.isisdrive.com/ http://www.truvativ.com/
http://www.raceface.com/
http://www.nsmb.com/shore_news/shore_news11_2000.php

It would make an awesome unicycle hub and crank standard design. Lighter
than the Profile hub but still should be strong enough for most people. It
would be an ideal hub design for a Monty trials uni.

It would be cool, but it will probably never happen. But it doesn’t hurt
to wish and dream.

Time for bed.

I have used rolled up socks to keep Roach pads in place. Cut the toes off
a pair of tube socks. Roll the socks up like a donut and put them on your
ankles. That can help keep the pads from slipping down the leg.

Or get a longer pair from Roach or UnicycleSource.

They make extra-long leg armor if you ask for it.

break stuff

Dingeman,

Have you ever heard of Profile cranks? Get some. They should hold up well.

I currently own a Miyata 24 delux. I did’nt know about MUni until after I bought it, and I still kill the limits on it offroad everyday. That’s why I am saving for a true custom MUni, with strong parts.

I suggest a Carbon framed air seat. It doesn’t flex like the Miyata’s do. Speaking of Miyata, someone needs to redesign their “hop handle” its a killer to the fingers!

The Carbon seat is custom made by Roger Davies, and If you get a Wilder (designed by Kris Holm)rail bracket, you can choose most any bike seat post, and run brakes, if your frame allows you. It helps if you want to lighten your unicycle up a bit.

Go to www.unicyclesource.com look around.

I don’t know about the Roach pads, but for me the plastic electrical type
tape works great.

So what do you do with the electrical tape?
