muni

I went for a muni this afternoon, mainly on sandy trails, but covering
semi-bitumen, gravel and sand trails. Luckily most of the downhill was steep and
sandy whilst the uphills were gentler slopes and mostly semi-sealed. Apart from
the obvious problems such as eating dirt a lot and getting thrown forward as the
wheel dug into the sand on the fast downhill slopes it was a lot of fun.
Strangely though, I didn’t encounter the usual problems of sore balls / sore
legs. My main problem was a really sore back, even though i was trying to ride
upright like when i ride normally (on road).

Does anybody else have this problem, or know how to deal with it? Could it be
anything to do with my 20" wheel?

Thanks. nic

No nowt to do with wheel size, MUni does this to you, in time the musles get
stronger and stop hurting. Build up distance gentley and you’ll soon be just a
little stiff after long rides. Sad to say Face plant pain doesn’t do the same.
I still face plant occasionaly when I forget to concentrate, or when faced
with a slug.
