MUni Weekend

I really enjoyed the reports on the MUni Weekend, and I’m looking forward to
reading more. What a blast that must have been!

Origami has been a hobby of mine for many years, and I have seen Jeremy’s work.
It is truly awesome! He is very well known among origami enthusiasts all over
the world for his outrageous performances at the yearly conventions in NYC
(often juggling torches while riding a unicycle) and his highly creative (and
often hilarious) origami designs. He is a founding member of BARF (Bay Area
Rapid Folders) and I believe you can visit the BARF webpage at:
http://www.barf.cc/ and see some of his work.

Thanks for the URL - the “Surfer on a wave” on the top page is a Jeremy original
that he showed at Muni weekend. It (and the others) are amazing, being folded
from one piece of paper with no cuts. He adds amazing twists: if you move the
surfer, the wave curls over him. Also, there is a shark fin following the surfer
(not visible on the photo). Click on the link and you’ll see the 27 step
instructions to fold it - doesn’t look particularly easy though… Another one
he showed was the Flasher Hat (click on Action Pictures).

To get back to unicycling, Jeremy brought 3 unicycles to Muni weekend. His 28"
offroad machine had wick intertwined in the spokes. For nighttime “Fire
Unicycling” of course. I tried out his Coker with 4" cranks and a brake. The
mount is very hard, but once you’re up riding, it is so smooth!
