MUni weekend video

I got the MUni weekend video yesterday. Thanks Nathan. There was a note with it saying that this is a large version with lots of footage of everybody, and that they would make another one in the future which will be faster paced and have music and such.

It was a lot of fun watching the video and remembering how much fun those rides where. I’m not sure how interesting it would be for people who didn’t attend to watch, but if someone is interested to see what the rides are like there, it gives you a great window in to the general atmosphere of the event. I can’t wait to see the faster paced version.

Later.

Re: MUni weekend video

Yes I thought it came out pretty well but that it’s too long and has too
much repetition to be really interesting to people who weren’t there. I was
surprised to hear that not only would there be a shorter “commercial”
version but that every one of us who ordered one already would receive a
copy for free! I guess the video crew really liked mountain unicycling to be
doing something like that.

Anyway, that shorter version should be 30-40 minutes and be available
“soon”. I’ll post then about how to order.

I am quite pleased that all three of my spectacular UPDs got caught on film and made it onto the long video.
Those were the only UPDs I had all weekend.

Re: MUni weekend video

You’re lucky. The camera caught David and me riding through the river, but
then it follows David just before I fell full on into the water. You can see
the huge splash I made though! The video brings back lots of great memories.

The cassette is yellow. Gee, I wonder who was responsible for that. The t- shirts were yellow. Nathan’s truck is yellow. Nathan’s helmet is yellow.

Hmmmm…

(there’s no yellow on the color font choices, hrrmph!)

At first I got a little bored watching it without music. But, strangely, I started watching it again during one of my son’s breathing treatments with a nebulizer and actually enjoyed hearing rider’s comments.

That’s great. I didn’t know there was a video made at the Cali Muni Weekend. I’m pretty excited about Moab when I get to work on my video. I just hope you guys aren’t getting sick of cameras by then.

I’m hoping the Moab video will be about 30 minutes, but thee’s no way to tell being that I’m 3 months away from any footage. It’s nice to hear that the muni weekend people got enough footage. How many people were working on that video? Are they a pro outfit? Are they selling the finished product?

I’m coming at the Moab project as an editor. It’ll be the first time I’ve shot my own material, so it should be a learning experience. I’m excited, though. I’ve got some great ideas. If I get plenty of camera practice in the next few months and you guys still don’t mind showing off for the camera, I think it can end up being pretty good.

Nick,

If you want to go ride sometime between now and the 4th, I’m game. You can take all the video footage you want too…

Re: MUni weekend video

It was a professional team of 3, Boosinger Video Productions
http://www.boosingervideo.tv/

They mainly do weddings, but also “Special Events” and a Muni weekend is
pretty Special I guess. They said they really enjoyed the 3 days of
filming - they sure hiked and biked a long way as they accompanied us on all
of the rides, all 3 days. I will post here when the shorter commercial
version is ready for orders. They were nice enough to make a longer
participants version which is the one we are talking about here.

About the color of the cassette, I didn’t even suggest they use bright
yellow - I assume they just chose the best of the available options

Oddly enough, though Nathan presumably chose the color of his truck and helmet, John Hooten and I chose yellow for the T-shirts. Wonder where we got the idea?

The “attendee” version was great as an edited-down and well shot home movie of the event, but certainly would not be very entertaining beyond participants who were there. The fact that we’re all going to be sent copies of the finished piece is an excellent gift! I can’t wait to see it. Compared to the other videos now on the market, it’s easy to see how important it is to have a sound track, and to keep things moving in an adventure sports video.

I watched part of it with my resident unicycle widow (Jacquie), until she died of boredom. She commented on how much of the elements she did not see me riding.

“But I’m right there taking pictures!” I would say.

“So why didn’t you try that bumpy log over the big drop?”

“Aren’t you the one that always tells me not to get hurt before I leave for these rides?”

And the conversation goes something like that.

actually John, I was pleased at howmuch stuff you did try. I especially remember you trying to wheel walk that log. Too bad you didn’t nail it, it would have looked cool.
