Muni Rendezvous at Mt Ida, AR Oct. 27th and 28th

We’re all kids. There were several younger riders at the last Arkansas event. They were all great to be around. There should be plenty of time for all styles of riding and speed. An event like this allows the hardware challenged to see and try different ride configurations before their next investment or what to list out for Santa.

Sounds good…He’ll be stoked to find out he’s going.

Five people have replied to this thread. How many people are coming? So far, it’s just me from Memphis.

b2bivy - 1?
Doug - ?
Wheel Rider - 1
BirdFrenzy - 2?
solocycles -2?

Total of 3 from Wichita.

Marty

Three of us but I’m the only rider.

Are the Texans still coming?

Yes, the last time I talked to them they were still a go, but unsure if it would be 2 or 3 riders. They work at a large bike shop in Dallas and have plenty of contacts so there might even be more… Oh, I’ll be the only rider since the other rider I was trying to get said something about blackpowder season or some other nonsense…

Is he afraid of the deer hunters in the woods where we’ll be? Or will he be one of them? Do we need orange vests for this particular weekend?

I’m not afraid of the hunters. We’ll be long past any hunter after he wipes his eyes and radios back to camp saying “ya’ll ain’t gonna believe this”.

The wife and I are sitting in a hotel room in Blue Springs, Mo. with the plan to ride on Tursday/Friday on the Katy Trail. It’s been raining all stinking day. Hopefully the trail will be ridable.

How does Mt. Ida handle fall showers?

Marty

No expert on the area, but I would guess that it would take a LOT of rain to make much difference. Thin or non-existent topsoil and some rocky stretches. Of course if it does rain now we all know who cursed us…

As far as hunters - I don’t perceive any problem especially if we don’t do any crack of dawn riding, and there is no reason to unless its a Coker ride.

I’m planning on bringing my DVD player for evening meditation and reflection. I have KH 1 Tired Guy, and Enter the Dragon, and Defect. If anyone else has any good Uni-vids bring them with you. Gettin’ close.

Marty

Unicycle porn? sounds good!!!

My family has backed out for other adventures that have cropped up. I have a cabin reserved and can share the extra shower hot water and any extra sleeping facilities that are left. I don’t know what all the cabin has. Any last minute travelers will have some place to lay their head at the end of the day.

The trees are turning here. The scenery at Mt. Ida (further south) should be spectacular during this event.

Everyone should start their lists for this event. Here’s mine.

Breakfast food: Brauts
Lunch food: Brauts
Dinner: Brauts
First Aid Kit: duct tape and super glue
Things to burn: firewood
Things to keeep our attention: firewood
Cooking utensils: firewood

Looks like you will be packing light.

I have a DVD of INNER BALANCE with the world famous Coker chase.

The weather forecast is looking GREAT!!

As of Weds the weather looks great - Friday (24 hours): Showers ending by midday. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 40s.
Saturday (24 hours): Plenty of sun. Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the upper 40s.
Sunday (24 hours): Sunshine. Highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s.

Perfect conditions for riding in my humble opinion. By the way I plan to get there fairly early and also will throw a pan of lasagna in the oven so later arrivals will not have to worry about supper. Looking forward to it!! James

It was a great weekend of MUni and 36er riding. The weather was great for the 8 participants. Hope everyone makes it home safely.

I am really tired.

I agree - great weather, company, and riding!! I can still feel the hills in my quads, but not in a bad way. Hopefully we can do this trip again!!

All the flat-landers from Kansas had a great time. Hopefully it won’t be the last.

Here is our collection of unicycles at Mt. Ida. Does anyone have a photo of the group that you could post?
