Epic day and my first time at Chantry Flats. This is bear country and thousands of acres of true wilderness! The Winter creek trail is very reminiscent of both Noble canyon and Tahoe Rim trail. Some great tech sections and the most amazing single track that is a mere six to eight inches wide in some sections…with a HIGH penalty for mistakes and missteps!
The fall I had at Cold Springs a week ago is nothing compared to potential fatal fall you could have here! For most of this trail is totally exposed with sheer drops down rocky, loose shale, with jagged rocks and deep, fast running streams at the bottom, sometimes hundreds of feet down!
It was a long drive and $10 adventure pass, (Double the normal $5, but I bought it there instead of rei or whatever.) but it was more than worth it. Fun and scary at the same time. Countless stream crossings and more waterfalls than I could count! And no bear sightings, (thankfully!) but I did see a very healthy bobcat…who was too fast for me to have a chance to film or snap a pic.
Great as usual Terry. Looks like a GREAT place to ride. I wish there were places like that in Lower Michigan to ride. Alas all we have is a great white abyss (although the snow did melt away a lot this weekend). Ride on!!
I’ve only ridden in snow once, but it was pretty fun! I guess it can to be a pain if you have it really often. Glad it melted away so now you can ride easier!
Thanks johnny! Yeah I had about 25 minutes of raw to edit down to a lean 3 min., and then it was like a puzzle piecing all the clips together in a way that would make some sense! There’s always so many different ways to go when you’re editing, but I love the process.
I don’t know about anyone else, but when I sit down to start editing, I can’t stop until I’m 100% done, with titles, music and everything! Haha, ADHD at work I guess. :o
Thanks Sean, and good to hear from you…I was wondering where you’d been! No auto-zoom, but in editing I used “ease in” or “ease out” on a couple of clips, which basically mimics the zoom effect.
I have a PC laptop running vista, and have never used a mac, but I’m thinking seriously about buying my first ever mac, and use it specifically for video editing. I keep hearing that macs are really best for video editing, and easier to use overall than a pc.
I also have heard and read that “Final cut pro” is pretty much the best pro video editing software you can buy; I wonder if this is true. What I have also discovered is that it is EXPENSIVE! Around $900-$1,299, depending where you buy it! It’s probably also an uber difficult learning curve!
I love the video - mainly the music and editing style. Couldnt do better myself.
The downside of that, is that the slick music video style doesnt bring out what youre really good at - being personal.
Personally, I think the music video style is getting old, and I wish I could touch people the way you do.
Thanks Michael! Yeah I really enjoyed that trail a lot…too bad it’s just so far away to go very often. There’s another trail there called Sturtevant that’s supposed to be more technical and also it leads to Mt. Wilson.
