i just opened an email alerting me to a new post on a thread i’m subscribed to
i clicked the link and it opened the relevant page as another tab in Crazy Browser
i started scrolling down the page using the scroll wheel on my USB mouse (HID Compliant) when all of a sudden, instead of scolling down, it started switching between Tabs
this is most irritating and i can’t find a way to stay on one Tab for more than about 3 seconds
ADD must be hell
If you put your ear really close to your mouse and listen carefully, you might just hear something along the lines of “dammit, he still won’t use mozilla, even though it’s much better! Right, that’s it, it’s time to drive him mental until he does…”*
This is even less helpul than Other Dave’s post, sorry…
thanx kids
it’s great to know that the ‘Great Unwashed’ of Crazy Browser Users are just itching to help one of their number in his moment of need
where’s this mozilla thing?
(if u’re going to be pushy about it, i’m not going to google)
after digging thru the innards of the pc looking for a setting to select or a tick box to untick, i eventually closed and restarted the program
it’s fine now
forget about crazy, apparantly it makes u stupid
At a block buster near me going in you push and going out you push. Pretty easy there are two doors you have to go through two for in two for out, you go through one door then another to enter or leave. They are on set up to be that so that you have to go in one section and leave out a few feet to the right.
Every time some one trys to leave they push on one side of the door then the other door you have to push on the other side making so that poeple get cofused and fumble with the door. For some reason some one put the hinges on two different sides and o course its just a bar going through the middle so no one knows theres a difference. People push, push then push some more trying to get out.
mmm, ok, first things first
thanx for the links john
i’d actually intended to get phil to back-up his shameless promotion of this browser by posting the links
i guess u beat him to it
i’ve only been using for half an afternoon or so and these are simply initial impressions
CB (Crazy Browser) opens all links u click on in a new tab
since this is (to me) the main reason for using this kind of browser, it’s kinda irritating to have to do the middle click thing
i guess i’ll get used to it and by this time next week it’ll be all better
CB has an icon at the top to create a new, blank tab
with MF (Mozilla Firebird), i have to do this using a drop down menu
irritating, especially when i type an addy in and it opens in the current tab instead of a new one as my trusty ole CB would’ve
CB features three close tab 'X’s at the top right hand corner of the screen
a green one to close the current tab
an amber one to close all unlocked tabs
and a red one to close all tabs
MF has one
a red one
imagine my confusion and consternation when i had to use it the first time
and i don’t even know if i can lock tabs in MF yet
i’ll get thru the help section at some stage
i’ll use it for a while longer but unless there’s something i’m seriously overlooing, it’s got some impressing to do
The middle-click thing works for me… I don’t want everything to open in a new tab, so the choice is good.
I actually use plain old Mozilla instead of Firefox; it’s very similar but (IMHO) looks nicer, and does indeed have a “new tab” button at the far left of the tab bar.
Firefox does have a new tab button, but it’s not shown by default for some reason. You can add it by right-clicking on the menu bar, choosing “customize”, and dragging the tab-and-plus-sign icon to where you want it.
Oopsy I must have clicked the wrong thread or something silly me. That’s what I get for trying to post at 5 am.
It could also be that the driver for your mouse went a little silly. That happend to me before now that I think of it, but it didnt do what you are talking about.
i’ve gone back to CB and noticed that they’ve now incorporated the middle button click thing as well
now i’m battling to get ShockWave Player to work with CB
when i open a link in a new tab, that tab is automatically ‘on top’ and obscures the one i was on when i clicked the link
this irritates me as that page then has to load while i have to click the previous tab to be able to carry on where i was
in CB, the new tab opens ‘behind’ the page u’re working on
is there a setting in mozilla that will allow me to change the way the new tab opens?
…is this a metaphor that I’m too dense to understand?
I tried the mouse gestures thing for a bit but, ferchrissakes, the accuracy required to “hit” the command you’re trying to execute is beyond me (even though I can whoop a** in Unreal Tournament)… just learn the keyboard shortcuts! I felt like I was going to get carpal tunnel even faster trying to learn the darn gestures…
Indeed there is; Edit -> Preferences -> the “Tabbed Browsing” page under “Navigator”, then there’s an option called “Select new tabs opened from links”. Untick it, and as if by magic stuff will open in the background.
Strangely enough this option appears to have been renamed since I last looked; I’m pretty sure it used to be “Open new tabs in the background”, which I feel is a bit clearer. Ho-hum; I shall forgive it due to Mozilla being truly ace anyway.
Turn the diagonal sensing woojimaflip off; it makes stuff easier. I use the close tab, forward and back gestures without thinking; occasionally I use the “open lots of links by dragging over them” one, but I generally don’t bother with any others.
When using IE at work I keep forgetting and getting IE all confused as it starts trying to scroll up and down and whatnot. Bleh…
