hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to mount a reeder handle onto a
miyata seat frame without a GB4 stiffener plate?? I don’t have enough
money for a carbon fibre seat frame at the moment but I feel that it
is the best solution. Any feedback is good…Thanks
It is possible, but I would recommend the stiffener. I wrote some instructions for the no stiffener method almost two years ago, they can be found here:
One of my club’s Cokers has been using a Reeder handle with no stiffener for about the last 2 years. It does work, though there is some noticeable flex in the base.
Edit:
After re-reading my instructions, it looks like I failed to mention the use of washers on the BOTTOM side of the base. You will need to add some washers between the seat base and the handle to raise the mounting location of the handle above the center ridge.
