Hello I’m looking for a nice unicycle for mountain unicycing. I’ve gotten flat ground down and feel ready to atleast attempt riding in the mountains. I would also like any tips that you might have that would help me to learn how to stay on my seat while riding over the bumpy terrain.
Get universe two and watch George Peck’s rough terrain unicycling. It’s a little outdated, but you’ll get the gist of it.
Don’t always sit down.
I’ve found that when sitting down while going over rough terrain I fall easy, when doing standup riding I hardly ever fall. This is only for big bumps though, when doing the more smooth stuff you can sit back down.
get a kh 24" muni or the 29" depending on how rough the trails are… and yeah if its rough trails or dh your going to wanna stand to keep you in control and balanced… second for me at least practicing stand stills helped…
That’s really really stupid.
Great… your so helpful!
I had never ventured off-road until some random teenagers said “I bet you can’t ride up the hill on that!”, referring to the 1,350m hill next to the town. Ten minutes later I was riding a path across a common; it all stemmed from there.
The best way is to start slowly; find some paths that aren’t particularly challenging but, most importantly, aren’t paved. You can build up to harder trails as your confidence grows.
An important aspect of riding off-road is being able to balance with just one arm while the other holds on to the front of the seat to link you with the unicycle; this is what keeps you attached to the uni whatever the terrain you may be riding over. Rather than having all your weight on the seat you can “hover” slightly above the saddle so the unicycle is free to soak up the bumps while the shock is absorbed through your legs. This is a skill that can only come through time on the saddle, so get riding!

This post was a waste of post.
Its clear you’ve had a mishap with wickedbob. You two need to get over it for the better future of the community.
On Topic:
I agree, dont always sit down, you may also need to hop around to go over rough terrain.
You're smarter than that......what, are you gay?;)
I’m not sure what point you are trying to make here.
Sorry,
I was fixated on your signature. I’ve used “gay” for “supid” for over 30 years(1974). Words can have have different meanings.
Again Sorry for not staying on topic.
Maybe this might help
1 I concur, standing up is good.
2 Hold on to the seat handle with one hand-----that will help keep your feet on the pedals when your bouncing off the rock n roots. The other hand for balance.
3 Don’'t try to force a bumpy section by going fast
Posideon/wickedbob, stop feeding the trolls.
Who’s Posideon? And how exactly am I feeding the trolls? All I did was state that for the better of the community, wickedbob and QuabColonIsBack need to get over there issues. And I asked critter what the point of this:
I sense no troll feeding here.
quabcolonisback=troll
dude all of you calm down… And have fun at muni riding!
He’s right. I’m sorry I over-reacted a bit. I’ll try not to do it in the future.
Have fun Adolf with the MUni, take the advice from the people that have done it first-hand. I haven’t been able to try MUni yet.
i was brought up in a place where Gay meant happy. It was hard to drop the habbit of saying it.
That’s cool, better than being brought up somwhere where gay means stupid.
+1. I dont mind if you use gay to say happy. But just don’t use it to say stupid.
