There is one strange thing about that show. I have caught it only twice, by
accident both times, and both shows have had a segment about unicycles. The
first one was about a very dangerous-looking restaurant in Thailand in which
flaming chickens were launched by catapult from the kitchen into the dining
area, where waiters on unicycles caught and juggled them in pans and delivered
them to the tables (even I still have trouble believing that I’m not making this
up). The other was about a guy who had a motorized monocycle, with the rider
sitting inside the wheel. It looked like a pretty nice unit although it suffered
from the usual monocycle problems, steering sluggishly and trying to roll over
when stopping. Whatever else one might say about the show, it’s good to know
there is at least some unicyclically-aware programming now and then.

I had the TV on earlier today and saw a bizarre event on the show, Real TV. I
think they called it motorized unicycle racing! The cycles looked more like
converted snowmobiles, but one of the requirements was that all cycles have only
one wheel.
Maybe someone can contact the show about some REAL unicycle racing, or better
yet, mountain unicycling!
Sounds like they need to come to the California MUni Weekend. Does anyone know
how I can contact this show? Someone from there did contact me in 96 after the
first one, but I don’t have the contact info.
Why do these TV shows always call up after the event and ask me if I have video?
I always tell them the same thing: We ride the unicycles. The event was
publicized. You are the TV show. Why don’t you make the video?
This time I’d like to give them plenty of advance notice…
