Mother's Day Adventure

Aaaah, Mother’s Day. That wonderful day celebrating mothers. Naturally, I thought I should get Mom a present. It had crossed my mind last week but I never did anything until this morning. I unicycled two miles to get to a flower place just to buy her a rose. Aww, sweet! I know, but it’s more than that.

I was really tired out from the long ride to the store (it’s really hilly) and it was nice to relax in the store for a bit. I wandered around and spotted … MY MOM!!! She had come too with my dad to pick out her gift. I went and said hi because I knew she’d see me otherwise. Anyway, I found the cooler with the roses and saw … one rose left. It wasn’t wilted, luckily, but I saw someone else also going for it. I quickly got there, opened the fridge thing, and plucked the rose from the vase. I got some annoyed looks from the other person, but I had GOT THE ROSE!!! I paid for it and started to sneak outside when I saw Mom coming towards me. Reverse. I turned and tried to find another way out but she seemed to be everywhere! Finally I sneaked through a greenhouse and made my way out through plants and mud with my unicycle. I started the long trip back. Unfortunately, it was windy. This meant I had to use both hands to protect the rose and couldn’t use them to help myself if I hit a bump. Because of this, on my road, I fell and skinned one of my knees, letting out a string of curses. My neighbor looked at me rather angrily, but I kept going. About a quarter of a mile from our house, I saw Mom’s car in the distance. Quickly I jumped into the woods and started going along there until she’d passed. I wanted to climb out again, but it’s kind of a steep drop-off and I didn’t want to risk climbing up it with the rose and my unicycle. I continued through the woods. I must have brushed against or stepped on a wasp’s nest because I soon found I had three wasps pursuing me. I tried to run, but couldn’t, so I got stung in three places. Ouch. At least I’m not allergic. I finally got home and presented the rose to Mom. She loved it. Now I’m sitting in front of the computer, nursing my knee, wasp bites, and tired legs. I also had to pick two ticks off of me. Was it worth it? Yes. At least the rose came through unscathed.
