Most Likely Injury

OK im sitting here unable to move my back because i fell on it (my Koxx…ix :stuck_out_tongue: ) it happens alot but what IS the most common one…post in the injury which you recived the most from unicycling and we’ll add it up

il start it off… falling on my cocxyx (bad spelling? not sure :o )

Embarrassment (correct spelling.)

Definitely pedal bites, on my shin…also I have hurt my wrist from falling on it quite a few times. Shoulda taught me to wear wrist guards, but I guess I’m a little stupid…

Crushed ego from verbal abuse of other riders.

i hurt my wrists a lot even if i’m wearing guards. shins, too, definately. skinned knees? yep. nothing major though. i’ve NEVER hit my head EVER even with a helmet. knock on wood.

no no no, the most common injury has to be the smashing of the groin area. I bet ya everyboy unicycler on here has done it.

otherwise pedal hits are pretty common.

are back injuries common unicycling? because I was almost considering one of these? Ive never heard of anyone wearing one though.

ps. you have to click the ips back to actually see it.

Miles

I believe its spelled coccyx…there was a poll done once for how many injuries people have had where.

i hit my shins alot, but the only thing that really hurts, is landing drops with only my toes on my pedals, it causes my feet to bend upwards WAY out of my normal range of motion, i’ve never done anyhting too painful though

hmm yea pedal bites are quite common but i suppose the coccyx thing came in my head because of all the pain and everything, pedal bites are horrible when they have studs in them i got two of em stuck in me leg then to make it worse it dragged this hole bout an inch long with the studs…i enjoyed it all the same

hay mornish thats a snow board helmet

My worst injury is tennis elbow, not from falling but from excessive pulling up on the seat when I hop. It’s been 3 long weeks of waiting for it to heal. Luckily I can still ride meanwhile.

Sprained ankles seem more common than I’d like them to be. And they’re bad enough that they’ll keep you from riding for a few weeks.

It really depends on how “bad” something has to be to count. From my early days of riding I seem to recall endless skinned knees and palms, probalby knees taking the #1 spot. Then maybe shins. Calves didn’t get it so bad back in those days because we didn’t learn tricks with pinned pedals (I don’t recommend this today either). Then maybe elbows.

But those aren’t necessarily “injuries,” just owies.

I almost always hit my well… You know. I am reasonably scared too, can any long term damage come from this? I often hit them or hurt my wrist or shins or knees.

Mike

I think it varies by type of riding. When I practice freestyle, I’d say scratches and bruises from my knees down are the most common, however wrist and forearm injuries are more likely when I ride my 29er.

I have never hit my groin area well riding, it was always common since for me to keep them out of the way, not sit on them, and all that other stuff, but I did hit my shins every once in a while, but then bought shin guards, so that doesn’t happen, but after that, I would hit my ankles a lot, or twist\sprain them, I am still waiting for the ligament to heal, 16 week healing period sucks…

A few days ago I bought 661 ankle biters, so that’s gonna stop the cranks from hitting the ankles, and ripping of skin, causing a scar, like the one I already have, but I wont get them anymore, a twist still can occur though, but its braced more.

The one that happens the most though, is the pedal slipping and coming around and smacking the back of my legs, it doesn’t hurt cause of the shin guards, but it happens a lot, only when i slip from wheelwalking, and that’s pretty much the only thing i am practicing.

My dignity is shredded.

Riding about on a one wheeled contraption, UPDs all over the place, big woman in cycling shorts, constant ridicule from people I’ve never met, occasionally getting stones thrown at me (again today).

Funnily enough, the less dignity I have, the more confident I am.

Cathy

Ball squash, most definitely.

Who the hell tries to throw stones at you? What kind of neighborhood do you live in? I’ve never had anything close to that happen to me… That just makes no sense… :frowning:

Most common injury is pedal bites on the shins for me.
