Well, my plans have changed for the California MUni Weekend. I’m still going, but instead of flying, I’m DRIVING!
This may not seem like a big deal to others, but the big news is that I will soon own a real car. I’ve never owned a car before, so this is a big deal to me.
I’m getting a 1987 VW Cabriolet. Basically, it’s a convertible Rabbit. I don’t care about the convertible part of it, especially with winter coming. I’m just excited to have a reliable car.
The guy who owned it before me was a mechanic, and he has kept it in excellent condition. He said that he just went through the “vicious circle of repairs” where everything needs to be replaced at the same time, so everything is running smoothly now. He even installed a racing clutch because his wife was very hard on it, so this one is supposedly indestructable.
The only reason he’s getting rid of it is because he wants a new one, and he’s getting the exact same type; just a newer model. That’s a very good sign. I asked him what his views were on it making the trip to California, and he said that they’d already done that trip before with no problems.
It’s a little 4-seater, with a trunk big enough for maybe 2 24" munis, so it won’t be first choice for taking people places, but it should get great gas mileage. Since I don’t have to pay the $200 for a plane ticket to Cali, I’m getting a great deal on it. Anyways, I’m excited.
i saaw the title of this thread and gasped in horror, “More Wheels” how could you! there is only one wheel in this world and that wheel is not friendly at all all wheels are loners and should be left as that they’re happier like that (bikes are cruelty)
sorry your thread was nothing about bikes just had to add that pointless emotion that popped out
i thought only females were allowed to drive convertable Rabbits?
oh wait, thats just the red ones:D
i don’t think you can go wrong with a VW. I’m going to buy a Deisel VW someday.
