I was watching the Woody Allen movie Zelig ( http://us.imdb.com/Title?0086637 ) this afternoon and there is an extremely short clip of unicycling in it. The clip follows some commentary about America returning to fads and crazes (its the 20s) and then two clips are shown, the first being a bunch of people doing Rhonrad (German wheel - the subject of a recent thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21802&highlight=rhonrad ), and the second is a line of people riding, idling on actually, what look to be about 8’ giraffes.
I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the movie just for these clips, although it is an excellent movie. However, it is interesting, if the clips used in the movie are, in fact, authentic, to imagine that riding giraffe unicycles could ever have been a fad.
I’m ashamed to say that I actually watched this movie but there’s a unicyclist in one of the Batman movies. It’s a murderous clown who rides along shooting people while on his unicycle.
Someone asked me whether I was trying to be a clown today. The fact that I’d just managed (woohoo!) a quite fast rolling hop down a 3 foot high bank, was covered in mud and was wearing all the pads ‘n’ gubbins evidently didn’t quite filter through…
Chris, Bill, and I watched the most recent Vampire Hunter D animated movie and there are several characters in those that ride unicycles, though we don’t see them for too long.
