More on short cranks :oD

102 mm (4 inch) cranks arrived today (thanks Roger) and went straight on the 24 inch Nimbus. That’s a ratio of 1:3, same as the standard Coker.

Oh what fun! On undulating ground and varied surfaces, keeping the speed up , rising out of the saddle to maintain balance AND momentum… if it hits a wheel trap, it’s all over in bananoseconds…

For under 10 quid, this has to be the most fun way to tinker with your uni to put the fizz back into your riding, and a great way to sharpen reflexes and improve your idling skills.

Do it now, folks, you know you want to.

Anyone know where I can get some even shorter ones?

Re: More on short cranks :oD

yes,Roger also has listed some bike euro 90mm cranks on uni.uk.theres no threads on them for a crank puller as stated.:frowning:

Re: Re: More on short cranks :oD

Hmmm. Thank you for ‘pinting’ that out. :o

Lemme see… 11.76% less leverage but approximately 13.33% more speed… but I change my cranks like I change my socks (about once a week) so what would I do to remove them? (The cranks, not the socks.)

Also, any advance (retreat?) on 90mm?

some sort of gear puller would take them off.or riding up the street without the fixing nuts may work, one will probobly loose before the other though(he…he )

theres allways the hammer and pry bar method, but thats messy.

you need a bearing puller, Roger will know exactly what type.

Re: More on short cranks :oD

Sorry guys,

These are now unavailable. Have some specially cut down aluminium ones
coming in this week but they will be £40 a pair with sizes 89,110,125 and
150.

Also in December we are getting in 89mm cranks in same as the cheap ones,
only £7. And they will be standard puller on them.

Cheers

Roger

Roger,
As I may have mentioned (ahem! ) my computer and your website don’t interact very well. So, any chance you could let me know when the er… budget 89s come out so I can order some. There will definitely be an order for at least one pair.
Mike

Re: Re: Re: More on short cranks :oD

If i were you, I would just get a bearing puller and pull the bearing. this will take the crank off with it…

Re: More on short cranks :oD

Oh Mike with the dodgy computer

That is a definite date for the arrival of the cheap 89mm cranks… early
December

(I will post it in the Uk unicycle.com mailing list when they arrive so make
sure you have registered with it)

Roger
