I was checking out some Tour de France news and found two pics of a
monocycle with a training wheel. It’s more of a motorcycle with a really
large rear wheel than a monocycle, but it still looks cool. At least with
the training wheel you don’t have to worry about going into a spin cycle
when breaking.

Very interesting “contraption”. I wonder if we can call it a monocycle
since it does have two wheels and one is outside the main wheel.
For those of you who may not know what a “real” monocycle looks like, here
is a picture of me riding one at Unicon X.
That seems like a much easier contraption than a real monocycle, so I dont want it. Come on, its just a gimmick probably not too hard to ride, not to mention way too safe for my taste.

Well, safe… Methinks that the centre of gravity is pretty much near
the centre of the wheel. Any braking action at speed will have a funny
effect.

My only hope is the CUA but they are very unresponsive. I will be in Beijing
in early may and will meet with CUA officials to discuss Unicon XI. I will
try to get the info then. Please try to rtemind in late April.

I’m pretty sure it’s a skatebike. The running joke was they are unicycles with training wheels. A 12" wheel with skateboard trucks and wheels. Easy to ride.
