My Miyata Deluxe (24 inch) has a flat spot on its rim. My local bike shop thinks
that it is a manufacturing defect that has always been there. The rim is a cheap
blue singe-wall Suzue. It is an old used uni, and the wheel uses 48 spokes. I
notice that the new Miyatas use 36 spokes.
Can you recommend a rim–a double wall–to replace the one I have?

If your spokes are unevenly tightened, they can actually bend the rim. This may
be completely unrelated to your problem – maybe the rim has always been flat.
Bit it’s a possiblity.
