I wonder if the tire valve being described is the same one that is on my Klepper
kayak trailer. It is a very obscure tire valve that looks like an oversized
Presta. The air pressure alone is what keeps the valve closed–there are no
threads or nut on top as in a Presta valve. I once found a Klepper dealer who
knew the name of the valve–German I think. I will see if I can track it down.
Woods Valve There is a third type of valve, very rarely seen, which has a bottom
similar to a Schrader and necks down to about the size of a Presta. This is a
Woods valve, also known as a “Dunlop” valve. Woods valves were formerly popular
in the British Isles and Asia. These low-tech valves work with rubber tubing and
spit. You can pump them up with a Presta pump.
Is this the valve type that comes on the Miyata?
