Miyata seat came in! Bad new though....

My Miyata seat came in today (Monday, thanks Tommy.) It looks good and real comfy to ride on, only problem is my Savage wheel bent in half last night hopping off a 6" curb… Grrr…

How do you break a unicycle on a 6" drop?!?!??!? mine has always been fine going off picnic tables.

Oh man. And you’ve been wanting this Miyata seat soooo badly!

Well, what kind of rim/spoke number do you have on your rim. My guess
is that the rim that broke was a 28 hole steel single wall rim, which
tend do taco easily. Max A. Dingemans

As it turns out even the hard-working government workers got the day off.

Have you ever wondered how they manage to sell an entire unicycle for $75 when a good wheel by itself is $75+? The wheel on the low end unicycles is not designed for an adult rider or any kind of abuse.

The upgraded unicycles that unicycle.com sells with the Kovachi wheels are a great deal. With the upgraded wheel you won’t have to worry about the wheel collapsing when going off a curb.

UPS was’nt running in my town,or Portland

thats weird that you got yours.must be a zone thing

My UPS people delivered today on Monday, wonderful people. I stuck the Miyata inbetween my legs to only imagine what it would be like to ride on it. I was desperate to ride on it so I searched a few bike shops thinking I would build another 24" by 28 spoke wheel… no one had any handy. I picked up the phone and called unicycle.com
I ordered this… http://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=97
without a seat since I already had one. It will have to do for now until the Profile crank/hub assembly can be afforded, and it has main cap style bearings which are good too… Thursday or Friday is the big day.

so maybe bustin that wheel aint that bad.that Savage made the decision for you,it broke, you killed it,but now you get to be United…

its funny if your Savage folded 2 weeks ago you would’nt have got to go on that epic Miyata seat adventure, and now you end up ordering a uni with-out a seat

i would have asked for blue one

dont torque those main caps down,or somthing will happen(like it did to me)and you will get very pissed off to no good…

i’m happy for ya ,but now your waitin for the brown van again

so am I…

I yearn for the day when the man in the brown poop suit comes to my door. Now instead of saving up all the money to build my Trials Uni I’ll get more time to ride it, just without some trusty Profile cranks/hubs. It’s funny how life works itself out, just the people that you meet, the events that occur, to ultimately get you to point z from point a.

I’v had good luck with the United trainer- I put at least 30 hrs on it a month, including lots of hopping, 1-2’ drops. I recently swaped out the stock tire for a very-serviceable-but-very-inexpensive 2.1" nobby tire for off road. When doing the swap, I found a point in the rim that had bent out a bit (impact?), and trued it with a wrench. I’v bombed down hills on it without much issue to the wheel- however, one of the cranks suffers from intermitant loosness. Yesterday I hopped a flight of stairs on it, and repeatedly gapped 18". I now clock in at 185 lbs., with chainge in my pocket.

I agrea, though- they are not made for this kind of abuse. It will surely fail.

UPS still delivers on holidays. Just the lazy goverment workers have off.

lol, ha, hard-working… you make me laugh.

hard work, is what i’m gonna have to do to earn enough money to buy a
profile hub and crank set…
