The the headlights and the front around the radiator of the next generation Lancer look wrong. It looks like they got the designers for the Dodge Charger to help design the front.
Blech, neither. I’m not a fan of Mitsubishi cars. The older one’s better though…the '08 is trying too hard to look sleek. The way it slopes down makes it look awkward, and like John said, the front end looks funny.
A spoiler is designed to generate vorticity in the flow to increase the air pressure behind the car to be closer to that at the front, thus decreasing drag. It improves acceleration, fuel economy and top speed. Spoilers can be as subtle as a very slight flick, of the order of a few millimetres, along the rear edge of the bootlid. They’re used almost universally in road cars, if you look carefull most modern cars have a slight lip at the rear-most edge of their bodywork. They also sometimes look something like this, which is mostly to make the car look good.
A wing is designed to generate downforce, in order to give the tyres more grip. It increases the speed that the car can turn corners at, but decreases acceleration, fuel economy and top speed as it increases drag force. Wings need to be outside the boundary layer to experience high-speed airflow so are usually mounted some distance from the body.
There is a third option - the sales gimmick. This is the category that most of those wing/spoilers you see on souped up novas fall in to, they offer no benefits except aesthetically.
And monkeyman, we should really keep all those grammar cartoons in a thread somewhere, that’s a good one.
