yeah, stupid. its in cold spring (my home town) the victims information and name have NOT been released, so the media has been hounding different people because they hear rumors. Some community member told media that our vice principal had it, and media swarmed their house, same with a few other people’s houses.
Governer pawlenty came to our school today and held a press conference thingy. Media were told not to disturb our classes, and a message came over the P.A. that said no one in the school was obligated to speak to news reporters haha. everyone wanted to talk to them then, but i dont think anyone was able to.
Press conference said that there are 10 other cases/specimens from our region (probably our town) that MAY be swine flu also, excluding the one confirmation.
Whats REALLY bulshit though is the fact that they quarentine the middle school, but our highschool is a buffer, and the kid (who was probably a track student) was all around our highschool. so stupid.
all of our lunch food is being portioned to keep people from touching different things. Peanutbutter and jelly once served in big bucket things with a spreader thingy in it is gone, and peanut butter and jelly in seperate dixy cups is here. same with cheese and pickles, and the lunch ladies are pouring the applesauce by themselves (students normally did that)

No no no, see, they wear gloves and control the scooper for the apple sauce, which normally the students just scoop the applesauce out of the big pan thingy with the scooper.
So what would you do, and how would it be less stupid? Also your mention of the changes made in the cafeteria. Was there something stupid about that, or are you just providing information?
BTW, has anyone ever mentioned to you that this is supposedly a family forum, that kids read here?

I was providing information of what they’re doing, and for it to be less stupid they could release us, and keep us at home. Some one is gonna get it soon though probably.
So eventually, if it gets to that point, you would be ok with 50 new threads? And don’t forget all the other countries that it might spread to too, and each state/province in those countries. You’re looking at hundreds of new threads that you feel each deserve their own spot in JC. I’ll have to disagree that we need a new thread for each one. And could you not have just mentioned this in the thread about swine flu?
I remember being in high school, so I understand your search for a reason to not have to go. Anyone else in the school with symptoms yet?
The first confirmed case in Northern CA was about two miles from my house. Just wanted to point out that I didn’t create a thread for it. Plus I’m more worried about our upcoming trip to Mexico (already booked with non-refundable tickets)…
I’m also debating starting a thread for Washington State Swine Flu.
Western Washington has FIVE SCHOOLS CLOSED today. At least two of the suspected cases are within five miles of where I live! AND, one of my co-worker’s grand-children goes to one of those closed schools!!!
I think I’m going to have to take the day off and spend a sunny afternoon out on the boat as I’m probably already contagious… Just doing my part to help.
