Mikefule rides again (with quiz)

…although somewhat unusual ground nesters. I have always thought ground nesting to mean “on the ground”, but could be wrong about the definition. Unlike lapwings they do not nest on the ground but in tunnels dug into it. There was a GREAT wildlife program about otters on TV a few days ago, filmed in the area where the story of “Tarka” was set and written. It included some kingfisher footage.

PS I saw a peregrine today in Manchester…fantastic.
