Midwest Regional Unicycling Competition

Make plans now to attend! The Unicycle Uni-versity will be the hosts of the next Midwest Regional Unicycle Competition which will be held April 4-5, 2003 in Rochelle, IL. Rochelle is a small farm town of about 9500 fine midwestern folk located in northern Illinois about 1½ hours west of Chicago and ½ hour south of Rockford. We’ll have open gym on Friday night with competition to follow on Saturday.

Bring your best Standard Skills and Artistic Freestyle routines but expect a lot more. We’ll include fun and games, a mini-trials course, fun hockey tourneys, great food in abundance, and fantastic views of the midwest’s exciting corn and soybean fields. Sorry, no mountain downhill events in Rochelle.

If you are a train buff, Rochelle does have a claim to fame for you. Over 100 trains per day pass through Rochelle and we are home to one of the very few double diamond crossings in the country. We have a very nice train park and museum in town which seems to always be bustling with activity. Here’s a link to the park’s webpage complete with webcam: http://rochellerailroadpark.tripod.com/

If you’d like registration materials for our midwest regional event sent (as soon as we have them developed) or need just plain ol’ more info, you can contact me at yoopers at inwave.com or even call; home: (815) 562-3876, work: (815) 562-4136 x.137.

Stay tuned to this fine station for more information at the situation develops.

Hey, a college buddy I haven’t seen since he got back from doing missionary
stuff in Zaire in - oh my gosh, 1994?! - lives in Rockford with his lovely
wife and daughter, at least last I heard.

My current plan for uni knee rehab is to try to get good at the 10K. So if
you hold a 10K Unlimited race (gotta ride Grendel) I’ll be VERY tempted.

Of course, I can’t ride 10K - heck, 1K - yet, but I just switched from
measuring the distances of my rides by houses to blocks earlier this week,
so by the time 4/4/3 rolls around, I’ll be ready. There’s a very nice 5K
track in Austin called the Veloway. It’s lovely on a bicycle, so I’m dying
to try it (but, you know, not literally, so we wait until I get better at
this) for a lap or two on Grendel, and make it my time trial course and push
hard every week and get faster and faster and…

Nonsense, you’ll post the registration materials and info HERE. Maybe cc a
private edress if you gotta, but 121 communication about public events is SO
inefficient. Why shouldn’t I know the answer to an excellent question just
because I’m not bright enough to ask it?

That’s more like it. Good man.

Wat to go Bruce!

As the Memphis Unicycle Club grows so does our excitement about coming up to uni with y’all… Can’t wait!
