Just went for a quick 9 km test ride with an average speed of only 13.1 km/h due to the up- and downhills, some of which had to be walked. The best (flat) segment was 21.7 km/h over 0.72 km. A believable top speed from Strava is approximately 26 km/h.

The cranks were shimmed with a single strip of patent band (?) on each side and I experienced zero issues in that regard.

Crank Length?

If the bench is a regular size, then this uni is probably a 10” wheel with 20mm cranks!

…and a 57mm brake disk. (just a wild guess)

so cute

No, more like a 7mm disc brake.

10 km on 45mm cranks, averaging 20 kph! :flexed_biceps::sweat_smile::1st_place_medal: Congratulations  :tada: Somehow this amazing feat doesn’t surprise me, but I have SO many questions…

This is a considerably higher gain ratio than 36"/75mm. Are there at all any actual advantages with 24"/45mm? You are already way faster on 36"/100mm.

How is it to ride this setup over a 10k? It must be super smooth and exhausting. Everything must surely be perfectly executed.

How do you even stop this silly machine? :see_no_evil_monkey: Braking was hard enough on 16"/45mm tbh.

Are the shims and cranks still holding? You are really pushing these cranks beyond the limits :joy:

We obviously have to make an other attempt with 36"/45mm next time you are in Oslo… :love_you_gesture: (Also, this is currently the only cortorless/45mm compatible uni I have now…)

I have been thinking about it! A freewheel 36"/45mm uni would be sooooo fun :star_struck:

Come on, with a 33% smaller uni he’s just about 33% faster than I am on my 36er - why make such a fuss about it? Ts, ts.
I mean, we’re talking about SirCranky…

The only advantage is the fun challenge. 24"/75mm is almost certainly faster, even on the flats.

10 km really is no issue on such a flat course.

As for stopping, I don’t. Even on a slight downhill it is almost hopeless. A setup with brakes could actually be viable for actual rides provided the uphills Arent too steep.

Both the cranks and the shims seem to be holding up perfectly.

Coincidentally I am already here and am open for a proper 36"/45mm test next week. I leave on Saturday.

You are in town?! :star_struck: (Un?)fortunately I don’t have the Beast ATM. It is on loan actually. But in all seriousness it makes a lot more sense (or a lot less NOT sense at all?) to try out 29/45mm.

Did you even bring your 45s?
