where can I get some metal for a grind box or should I just grind on the wood
Depends what sort of wood and how fast you wanna go.
When learning to grind, I just waxed up a few wooden pallets that i had around and that worked great. But i also have made a rail that’s slippery as a fish which just has a peice of roof spouting which we had left over from something.
if you want to cap it with metal, i’d suggest a peice of roof spouting with a 90 degree angle in it so it covers the edge of the rail too.

From a metal supermarket, metal wholesalers, DIY shop or fabrication shop.
roof spouting??
isn’t that stuff ultra thin?
i suggest stainless steel angle iron however wide your pedal is (unless you don’t have a rust problem where you live)
PVC also works quite nicely, and you could probably get a pipe for about $5 and cut it in half for the edges
wood sucks trust me
Me and my friend did this and it worked well. Just about any peice of metal will work as long as it’s well supported. Wax works wonders, too.
If you could get your hands on some uinstrut it works good and is very strong i managed to get some from Dads work it is mint.
yeah, it is ultra thin, but t grinds really well presuming you support it well, as spudman said. I have the spouting on a small red-gum sleeper on some legs that i made. As soon as you have it all supported, it’s great, but if you have patches in the suport and you land on the bearing housing, you can put holes in it.
Some wood is alright as long as you wax it. My friend and I have just spent the last 2 days working on grinds just using the edges of some waxed up wooden pallets and it slides excellently.
Keep it wheel!
