Sorry to dissappoint but this is about the music genre, not the material. Although i’m not disputing the worth of metals, they make up 80% of our periodic table for christ sakes, i just think music is so much more exciting then science. So… any metal fans out there? Feel like discussing and/or getting into metal? Post, post now!
There’s a few around. I’m into gothic metal, so I don’t neccessarilaly count.
sorry to be like an odd one out, but i grew out of that craze of death metal and all that at the end of grade 6…
i dislike it… a fair bit, it isnt really music… but thats me
There was a death metal craze? How odd. It never reached our borders down here.
So what do you listen to now that you’re all mature n stuff.
i didnt say it was an act of maturity… i just thought i would voice my opinion on metal, im just not a fan really.
it wasnt a craze, at my primary school a fair few kids loved it, not a craze tho…
i listen to most music, dance, punk stuff a whole range really, just not metal, i like Hed PE tho, and other bands like that, just not HEAVY metal or grunge metal kinda stuff…
dont take offence tho
i love metal music. I grew up listening to just about anything you can think of (yes, I had to listen to yoko ono). rammstein is good, trivium is also crazy.
I love listening to anykind of metal. Some of the stuff i listen to is Slipknot, Trivium, Mudvayne, Rammstein, Metallica, Lamb of God, Korn, Tool, Cradle of Filth etc. etc. I am quite open to music and like other genres like punk and techno sorta stuff
My entire music collection (save about 3 albums) is some sort of metal. I think my favourite metal sub-genre would be the type that can cause ears to bleed, Meshuggah, Mushroomhead et cetera. But not all metal is broken guitar strings and throst surgery. One of my favourite bands is Dream Theatre, a light power metal band.
Metal on!
Symphonic, Industrial, Prog. Can’t be bothered typing out all my faves. Metallica’s S&M album has to be one of my all time favourites and it got me into metal.
Siege
slipknot, korn , disturbed are excellent
Symphonic metal is awesome

[THREAD]35198[/THREAD]
i loves me some death metal… lamb of god, dying fetus, between the buried and me, the agony scene… just to name a few… i love all kinds of metal… except old metal… im not a big fan of old stuff
I lost track of the definitions 20 or 30 years ago. In my day, heavy metal was ugly hairy people in leather and denim playing loud blues-derived electric rock. Some bands had a novelty (Angus Young’s schoolboy costume, for example) but it was all just heavy metal.
Then some time in the 1980s, the singers started looking pretty, and that’s when the rot set in.
And in those days, punk was badly-played shouty music, or very simplified art-student 3 chord rock with costumes and a veneer of sociopolitical comment.
Now I find stuff called punk that sounds like heavy metal (Broken Bones, very similar to Iron Maiden) and stuff called metal that sounds like rock and roll, and stuff called metal that sounds like a dustbin full of kittens falling down a spiral staircase.
The following isn’t a full list because I’ve not updated for a while, and I’ve taken out all the duplicates and the “various artists”. So how many of these are metal?
