mending plastic wheel rim

(excuse my poor english) This is important if you have a plastic wheel rim on
your unicycle. The rim can eventually tear where it goes around the axle. When
that happens, there will be margin (latitude, play) between the axle and the
wheel rim. You will then notice margin on your pedals. To mend this, you can use
narrow hose fasteners from the car industry, usually 26 mm in diameter.(Just try
a good accessory shop.) Fasten them around the torn round part of the rim. Use
force,go unicycling, fasten them even tighter and so on. The margin on your
pedals will disappear. Yours truly, Geert-Jan

The picture shows a steel wheel. What I was refering to is a ‘star wheel’ with 5
big plastic spokes. Actually, the entire wheel is out of plastic except, of
course, the axis. I advise not to buy unicycles with these starwheels since they
don’t last too long. I merely showed a way to patch it up a little bit. Right
now I’m looking for a way to change the wheel with a steel one. I guess precise
welding is involved. Yours sincerely, Geert-Jan

I just happened to be researching a Sakae bottle cage for my bike and what was
on the same page, link to a plastic rim unicycle, probably what Geert-Jan was
referring to. It sure looks like a steel wheel and you can see the air fill for
tube type tire??? Just thought someone would like to see the page.
