Melted my video camera :p...suggestions?

So last night I’m sitting down doing some homework, and the heater turns on. Little did I know, my camera was right next to it, melting. XD

Whatever, time for a new one.

I’m thinking of getting this one, if anybody can find a good HD camera that compares to this, please tell me about it.

And is it possible to mount a fisheye lens on this camera?

I’d reckon you’d be better off spending a bit more money on a better camera if you’re into making videos. It’s a tiny lens (so will be poor quality in anything other than bright sunlight) and only has digital zoom, so picture quality will drop as you zoom in. And that’s before you consider the unknown build quality. You could probably get something much better for, say, twice the money, that you’ll get far more enjoyment out of in the long run.

Bear in mind I’ve not personally seen one of these cameras, it’s just my opinion from looking at the page you linked to.

Perhaps you need to look into getting something heat-proof as well

I use this forum for all my filming related questions, the kids there know their stuff. Just dumb down your spelling and grammar a bit otherwise they might realize you’re not a skater. And don’t use the search function and bump an old thread either, they would rather you make a new one. (Not kidding on either point).

Yeah, don’t leave the next one so close to the heater.

The camera you linked to doesn’t appear to have a brand name. Also in the photo I notice it has a “digital lens” on the front? I wonder if the glass is made of little 0s and 1s? :stuck_out_tongue: It’s possible that the camera you found is a great deal for the money. But you would be taking a significant gamble to find out. When it comes to electronics, why buy any product you can’t read reviews about? If it had a brand name (or model number; it doesn’t seem to have one of those either…) you’d be able to look up accessories, like fisheye lenses.

Canon and Sony are two of the best brands for handheld camcorders. After that, any other brand you’ve ever heard of is probably going to outlast that generic thing.

is the one I want.

You should get a small point and shoot camera before you get that. I bet you that just turning that camera on could melt it. Spend twice as much get like a kodak zi8 or something. Or like I said a point and shoot camera like a sony or canon. Dont waste your money on that.

And just a heads up, from every hd cam I have seen, spending the same amount on a sony or canon will do a lot better than the panasonic. I love panasonic but they just dont do as well with the HD camcorders. They are a little grainier and a lot darker… But that is just from the couple I have seen. I havent seen that one on a TV so…
