I already talked to Frank (Hell on wheel ) about this but I’m wondering if there is anyone else interested in a winter ride this year.
Winter break is Dec14th on for me and I’ll be in Annapolis MD till Jan, 4th.
I was thinking planning a ride arround December 20th somewhere in Northern VA, maybe Great Falls National Park, I personally have never been on any of the trails there. But it might be an interesting place to ride.
Frank mentioned the C&O cannal ride so maybe we could do that.
Lets get the idea’s flowing and plan a ride that is good for everyone.
I’ve never really done one of these big internet Uni rides, but I’ve been riding for 5 years now and have always wanted to. I’ll be in Annapolis until Dec. 18 and would be interested in a ride.

“WHEN IT COMES TIME TO DIE BE NOT LIKE THOSE WHOSE HEARTS ARE FILLED WITH FEAR OF DEATH, SO WHEN THEIR TIME COMES THEY WEEP AND PRAY FOR A LITTLE MORE TIME TO LIVE THEIR LIVES OVER AGAIN IN A DIFFERENT WAY. SING YOUR DEATH SONG, AND DIE LIKE A HERO GOING HOME. RIDE ON ONLY ONE WHEEL!!”
I’d love to come along but I don’t think my skills will be there in time. I can’t freemount yet, and even small wobbles in the floor throw me off. I’ll keep working on it because this ride does sound like fun.
The C&O canal is mostly a flat dirt road with no ruts, with the occasional washed out section that can be extremely technical and challenging. Around DC it’s usually crowded with people on the weekend, but never so many that the path is blocked.
I’m not 100% certain, since I’m not a mountain biker, but I believe that mountain bikes (and therefore MUNIs) are banned from almost all of the parks near DC. Great Falls is a popular park with lots of foot traffic and the occasional drowning, so it is regularly patrolled by rangers.
