Wow, I had a really bad UPD today. I was cruisin’ along pretty quick, but had my discman on, so I had to keep looking back for cars. (I was mostly in the trail, but had to go on a paved section)
When I turned my head one time, I must’ve hooked th4e wheel on something, and got one of those, flung off the front UPD’s where you just fly…know what I mean?
Well, the first thing that hit the pavement was my wristguard.
(i hit hard, I know it would’ve broken my wrist)
That took the impact and slid me forward…until my Roach-covered knee (same side) hit the road.
I was pretty much out of momentum, but all my weight was on the one side. This caused me to roll over onto my camelback.
I finally came to a stop when the back of my helmet came to rest on the ground.
My Panasonic cd player never skipped a beat!
I was still 10K’s from home, and I know I would’ve been in a great deal of pain.
I’m big on the padding too. Last Unatics meeting trying to do a mount directly into SIF backwards, I caught those big feet in the cranks - flat on my back and head and hands. The helmet saved me from a concussion I’m sure.
I recentley had one of those encounters and boy was i thankful for my helmet on that if not i would have indefinetley bloodied up my head and face i am also really thankful for my knee pads for thos really bad MUni falls:D
