making unicycle freinds.....

One way or the other…

Just wanted to report whats been going on. I’ve been riding unicycle for around a year now, during that i’ve met different people that I wouldn’t of met otherwise, i’m not going to talk about them. I’m going to tell about the people I already know what are now turning into unicyclists. First is Caleb, my friends son, he’s around 9. I was over today and he was practicing, he’s been riding for a few weeks I think, but only when he can get one of my unicycles. He can ride for a pretty long time without falling off, I think he doesn’t dismount till he falls, so hopefully he’ll get more control as he progresses. He went with me once to a unicycle club i’ve been to twice maybe, and he enjoyed it, I think we’ve got a keeper here, hehe.

Ok, Josh is next, I haven’t known him long, I think he may be a couple years older than Caleb, he’s progressing well also. I think he likes using my 16 inch wheel when the pedals not falling off, which could be cause I think they had the seat on backwards. I don’t think he can ride for as long as Caleb, maybe 30 yards i’ll guess, but he’s into it and wants to ride alot and his mom says it makes his day, so very cool.

Other than that theres a few others that try it from time to time. One day this week a coupld other young guys were practicing and there time staying on was getting better for the short practice time they’d given it, so thats always fun. Although there is the problem of sharing, and being asked to buy more unicycles, but I think Calebs getting one for his birthday, so hopefully birthdays solve the problem more and more, although they don’t work for me anymore, oh well.

Ok, thanks for reading this, hope it’s encouraging.

Several people at my school have also learned to unicycle. At first, it was really awesome so many people were doing it, but now it’s more of the bandwagon effect… People are learning how to ride just because their friends are, and then they give up a few weeks later…
Oh well, some of them are still into it. (-:

Yep, you gotta really wanna stick it out to learn, it usually takes time, which not everyones gonna wanna take.

People wanting to learn also is a good lesson on helping them and not just be into riding. I’m not always wanting to help hold someone up, i’d much rather be riding my unicycle, but in a way helping someone else learn is also rewarding, so cool.
