making a blog

Hi all,

I’m going abroad to russia this summer to do some research and I was gonna
make a blog to keep all the friends and family informed, but I seem to be
techncially handicapped and time handicapped as to create it myself. I was
just gonna do one of those blogspot thing but I wanted my friends and stuff
to be able to leave comments. So I was wondering what people in here would
want to charge to set that up for me, if they were even interested.
Something like moveable type though anything that is somewhat flexible and
allows comments and such is acceptable. Secure is also an important thing.
It also looks like I’d have to pay for mysql access so that isn’t really an
option, I think. No design is needed just the set up, as long as there is a
configuration tool/admin of some complexity that is available with the
script.

If you’re interested drop me a line at bgw(remove me)@jumpnow.net .minus the
remove me of course.

Thanks,
Brian

Re: making a blog

Can’t help with the blog, but feel free to contact me with any questions
about Russia. You will love it in the summer  .

I don’t know a thing about blogs, but if you find one you like I’d be happy
to set it up for you. WD free discount

Re: making a blog

yeha I was there for all of last semester in St. Petersburg, but I’m gonna
be near lake Baikal, Irkutsk, Ulan Ude, and Krasnayarsk this time for about
two months. I loved it last time this should be even better since I’m
traveling on my own and make my own schedule. Do you know much about the
area?

Re: making a blog

I have not personally been in that area, but how is your Russian? As soon as
you leave the major cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok), almost no
one speaks English.

Ulan Ude is supposed to be quite, um, interesting. Kind of like a cross
between Russia, Mongolia, and USSR .

Have been or are you going to Moscow?

Re: making a blog

When I was in Petersburg we spent a week in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, and
Novgorod. I have about 3 years of Russian under my belt now. So I can get
around, its on more technical things that I get stuck and when this trip
will be a challenge but thats half of the appeal.

Yeah Ulan Ude does sound like a cool place. I hear it seems almost anything
but Russian, and its got the largest bust of Lenin in the former USSR, so
that’s good right? Krasnoyarsk might be tricky. It used to be a closed city
I believe, and I’m hoping to talk to some scientists there, hopefully I’ll
be able to avoid any problems with the authorities they get a little
protective of their military-industrial complex still.
