I like this a lot. Our government is corrupt. Itās unfortunate that Iām growing up in such a terrible time period.
WTF are you talking about? For 99.99% of human history itās been waaay worse.
What past time period do you think would have been better?
The dark ages werenāt TOO bad.
Eh, they were about average.
Other responses to this aside, I was just going to offer that, pretty much no matter what time period you grow up in, when you look back on these times youāre going to think of it as āthe good old daysā. And in many ways they will be.
A few people have told me that the ā60s were the "good olā days."
ā¦but as far as I can tell, the '60s sucked.
So yeah, nostalgia can be a powerful force. Or something.
I the '60ās we had the Beatles. Today we haveā¦Bieber.
The Beatles have approximately two songs that I used to like. Most of their lyrics are fairly terrible even by todayās standards and I donāt particularly like the way they sounded, especially in their earlier songs.
I say āused to likeā because Iāve heard those two songs far too many times and they really werenāt good enough songs for me to still like them even after being bombarded with them by a hundred different people in a thousand different situations.
ā¦and of course musicians like Beiber and Rebeca Black are rubbish. The only people who like that stuff are prepubescent girls anyway. They are irrelevant.
If you want to try and persuade me that the '60s were good because of the music, use a better example than the Beatles. I was going to say Iron Maiden, but then I remembered that they started up in the late '70s.
Peter, Paul, and Mary it is, then. That was a pretty cool group. And maaaaaaybe Pink Floyd.
In any case, my point had little to do with pop culture.
I see your Beatles and raise you one Vietnam war, one Chairman Mao, one Tlatelolco massacre, one Soviet Union, a few nuclear bombs, a metric ton of internal strife as people strove to gain rights that they should have already had, one Berlin Wall, and a general increase in crime rates.
Ouch! Okay, you can hate the 60ās.
Pink Floyd? Iām a big fan. But they didnāt really not suck until the 70s, so that doesnāt help the argument for the 60sā¦
Were you alive during the 60s? I think that has a lot to do with things.
BTW, that video clip was great. Too bad it probably wonāt have much effect. But people do vote based on the economy, not so much on all that smaller stuff.
The times before government and religion. Those, my friend, are better times. Humans messed up. Badly. Look whatās become of the world. Governments are brainwashing their nations into any and ever radical believe, at their discretion: the corrupt politicians. How is this a good time period? The so-called freedom we have? I donāt even see that. I donāt see how this is a good time in history at all.
Despite all its problems, itās still the best time weāve had so far.
PHHH.
What, you want to go back so many thousands of years?
What about medicine, technology, specialization of laborā¦ hell, go back that far, what about agriculture and domestication of animalsā¦?
How is any of this new? If anything the general trend in all of these regards is towards improvement. Slow, unsteady, and probably limited in scope, but still improvement.
Eh, I have the same problem with lots of things. Like, Iām a big fan of Beethoven, but I cannot stand his fifth symphony, probably because of some situation I heard it in when I was a child. My brainās just stupid like that.
I donāt listen to a lot of English language stuff. The closest bands to the Beatles that I listen to are probably The Pillows and Bump of Chicken, and I think that most of their songs are rubbish, too. Some real gems as well, though.
Religion and government have been around since the first humans. You want to go back to a time with no people? Let us know how that goesā¦
When was there a time period better than this one? Ancient China: forced peasant labor. India: inequality in the caste system. Rome: prisoners of war forced to fight to the death. Look at any other civilization, and you will never find anything better.
Hi Alex! Iām betting you like āSinging in the rainā.
Not particularly, no, and I donāt understand the reference you are making here.
ā¦Alex?
Set your glazzies onto A Clockwork Orange.
But, you weāll celebrate. Once such a that kinds her, even if she filly? It would be wrong to a that to for inter would do something base you see, I read wondering liked itā¦
Belle read hat Sweetie masochism.
