Magura rim brake install

Help is appreciated,

I’ve gotten back into riding after years. My 29 and 36 are older and have rim brake mounts. I bought two Magura HS-33 rim brakes…but the mounting hardware bolts are too big (m8 vs. m6) and I need to source the correct size.

if there is anybody with these brakes I would really appreciate a pic or two of your mounting bolts so I can copy and find the right hardware.

Thanks in advance!

That’s great to hear that you want to ride after years with your Unis. I love my rim brake, for me the rim brake is better than the disc brake. I hope I can help with the pictures. The Screw are M4x 25mm. They work perfect for me.

M4? Seems very small. Are you 100% sure?

Thank you! These pics help a bunch.

You are correct. Turns out they are M5. I actually had to order these clamps from Mad4one in Italy. Given the age of this setup these clamps have been discontinued but luckily they had a few sets in stock.

Thanks for your reply!

Thanks Jim!

It appears to protrude quite from the frame. Does it rub against your thighs sometimes?

No, I don’t rub.

That probably depends a bit on calf thickness and leg position. I sometimes had slight rubbing with my calves. At first, I had a little trouble with that because the calf muscles felt cramped in that area. But you automatically avoid rubbing by riding with your legs less inwardly turned, turning your feet slightly inwards, or positioning them a little further out on the pedal.
