Magura mounts in 36 and 29er positions

Hey,

I’m going to have a new frame build for a KH/Schlumpf based 36er. Although it occurs to me that one day I may want to use it with a 29er wheel.

I’m wonderering if there will be any problems if I put brake mounts in both the 29er and 36er positions.

Would I have clothing caught in the unused mount? Has anyone ever done this?

Thanks!
Mike

I never hit my leg on the lower part of the frame so I dont think this would be a problem but you would have to make sure that you have a long enough break line to reach both positions, not sure what you would do with the slack when in 36er mode.

You could always screw some sort of protective cap onto the unused mount… a rounded piece of plastic that’d keep it from snagging things.

Perhaps a piece of an old bumper or something?

Better yet, duct tape! What could be better than a Ti frame wrapped in duct tape? :stuck_out_tongue:

That would be awesome! Maybe I could put some of that fake carbon fiber shrink wrap stuff on it too.

Oooh, that would make it really light and fast!!

no, only flame stickers have that ability.

Definitely & Spinners would make his wheel go even faster.

Seriously, I would see no issues in welding both mounts on. I was going to suggest placing the mounts on opposite sides of the frame only to realize that that would make any possible snagging worse (DOH!!)

there must be thousands of people who own unis with brake mounts, but no brake. Can’t see it ever being a problem, I’ve heard of people putting bolts in the holes to stop crap getting in the thread but that’s about it. Really wouldn’t worry about it if I were you.

I’d say you get snagged more on the brake than the brake mounts.
