I was wondering, if I was going to buy some rim brakes for my MUni, would
I buy a Front or Rear brake set? that is assuming that I would want the
Magura HS33’s and not the 11’s or 66’s. Or is there a better brake set?
anyone who has ideas, im listening.
I don’t know what the better brake set is, but you definitely want the
Dooley? lever attachment like Kris Holm has. I’m in the process of finding
one, hopefully from unicycle.com. Without the attachment, it’s a stretch
to reach the brake, and usually when you need the brake, you’ll be hanging
onto the Miyata handle for dear life! (I found this to be the case on the
downhill at NUC - I didn’t dare to reach for the brake!)

These questions arose in my head too. Kris Holm runs a Magura Tomac brake, I have no clue where to find it, but since I am shooting for his signature cycle I really shouldn’t worry. He runs a front brake, a rear one would be way to long.
The Duel lever attachment you spoke of, allows you to grab the brake handle with more than one finger, as you would be able to without the attachment. It runs for around $12.00, and you can get them from unicycle.com. You have to cut the lever down, otherwise it will hang out too far and hit you in the leg. They come in lefty or righty.
If you have any other questions, do what I do, contact Kris Holm or John Drummond (unicycle.com) via e-mail, and they will give you answers, and they are very good people to deal with.

I can get a Tomac Front and Rear set and that is alot more than I
want to pay considering I can get a Quicksilver (I think still a
HS33) Front for about half the price, mostly becuase I can order
just a front.

I dont think that I will need one of these things. My dad
will probably just weld one on for me or something like that
if I need it.

I had no clue that the Tomacs were so expensive, mainly because I didn’t know where to get them. It really doesn’t matter for me, because like I said I’m getting the Kris Holm cycle (in a year) and I’ll arrange everthing with unicycle.com.
Without some sort of lever extender (duel levers) you will only be able to grab the normal lever with one finger, and you won’t want that, so you’ll have to weld it wider or order the extensor through unicycle.com.
Someone was mentioning that the Tomacs only come in pairs. It actually
might not be a bad idea to get the pair anyway. I have broken one set of
brake levers because the uni smashed against a rock at a flukey angle.

That was me saying that I could only get the Tomacs In Pairs. are
the Tomacs the only ones that have the Dual bolt system? or are
the others more like the ones that come on a DM vortex. on the
other hand getting Tomacs would make my dad have to figure out how
to make a dual bolt system to weld on to the Uni.

None of the brakes actually come with the dual bolt system, but all are
compatible with it. The clamp mechanism is different, but all the
important parts of the brake (the brake housing) are the same. You can
even use the same clamp mechanism on the dual bolt design by taking off a
couple of parts, like the prong that fits behind the fork blade. It looks
a bit awkward though, compared to the real clamp, and you might have to go
to a store and buy some longer machine screws to make it fit. The dual
bolt design clamp can be purchased separately from the brakes and I don’t
think it is that expensive.
