Low price Distance Uni??

hey guys, i saw Justin’s review on the 36er and it looks like fun. i enjoy doing races on my 24inch uni, though i mostly use it for street…and sometimes Muni…i was wondering if you guys think if i bought a bedford 29" with shorter cranks 110mm ?? and made myself some hadlebars if it would be good for a distance uni?
let me know
thanks

29’s more versatile, but 36 is more fun on the road.

How much do you want to spend? There’s a thread about building a Coker for $300, and it’s a nice ride too. I’m riding the same Coker wheelset, and it’s solid.

I think it depends on preference for size and maneuverability and how fast you want to be able to go.

Personally I found a 29" to be satisfactory step up from a 24".

On my 29" I ride at 6-7 mph on fairly flat terrain (paved) but i’m still on 150 cranks and I’m not trying to ride fast. I find this speed (approx running speed) to be just fine for my wants and needs at this time. I expect that without too much effort, and a drop in crank size, I will end up at about 8mph. Which suits me just fine.
