Looking for a unicycle...

Hello,

Any one out there who may want to sell their old unicycle?

I’m 31, have always wanted one, practiced on a friends years ago and recently
decided my “inner child” needs one! Unfortunately, my “inner child” can’t afford
$200-$300 for a good one.

Cycle Pro has one for $80.00 plus shipping & handling (available through Agee
Cycles on their web site, www.ageebike.com), which seems affordable, but I don’t
know much about that brand. Braun also sells an affordable one for around
$90.00, but again, I don’t know how good they are. Any info you care to share
would be much appreciated!

Sincerely,

Barb

Barb~~

My sister and I bought our own unis this summer from the ageebike website that
you mentioned. I personally think it’s a very nice unicycle for a good price.
You can get a lot better quality ones of course, but I’m not overly rough on
mine, and I like it a lot.

Re: Looking for a unicycle…

Check www.ebay.com there is a Schwinn for sale 24" and the bidding right now
is at 45.00.

There is also a 6’ Giraffe (Schwinn) up for grabs too.

I took a look. The poor thing, looks like the person it was intended for never
learned to ride it. Unfortunately it looks like it may have lived outside for a
while, so it’s pretty rusty. But that will clean up. It’s an old style Schwinn
with cottered cranks.

No picture, and the bidding was at $200 when I looked. It’s still worth it. Hope
some of you people looking for used giraffes are listening!

Re: Looking for a unicycle…

I have the cycle pro 20 inch. I learned on it quickly and have been using it
for a while without any problems. I say go for it! It’s a great learner
bike. Wrap the seat in a rag and put duct tape around it to protect it while
you’re learning.

I plan on upgrading soon because I would like a larger wheel, big tread, and a
softer seat

I’ve had a look. Like most inexspensive unicycles, these are both made in the
same factory. Braun looks like a winner to me, with a rigid fork and the better
bearing assembly. The uni from Agee might have a nicer seat (hard to tell from
the photo, might be same one), but has the inferior “bolts on the sides”
bearing holder.

Neither unicycle has the nasty old seat with metal bumpers, that’s as wide in
front as it is in back. If you have one of those, consider upgrading.

I vote for Brauns. Or save up a bit, and buy one of the Miyatas, also available
thru Brauns, along with two different kinds of giraffe!

Stay on top, John Foss, the Uni-Cyclone
