my note: it’s this 4000 pro that does all the magic, the additional vest is nice to take the weight off of long shoots, and does provide steadier shots…but realistically, the 4000 will change your shooting forever
there is no need to upgrade the 4000pro itself, unless you have a camera that is over 30 pounds or something…
the 4000 is the hand held device with the gimble to hold on to. this is technically all you need for the cool shots I do.
this makes holding your camera quite a bit heavier now, so you can also get the smoothshooter, which is the vest and arm thing to hold the 4000.
if you look at the footage from Ray’s Indoor MTB park on Inner Balance (the indoor giraffe stuff) I only had a 4000 with me at that time.
if you have a really tiny camera, you may want to look at the 2000’s (the only difference is size) and there seems to be several for sale in those forums for in the $200’s
Having worked with both, I found a much nicer shot was achieved by weighting my small camera to the min weight requirements of the 4000…5-6 pounds or something, than using the 2000 designed for the smallest cameras.
edit…add some long batteries, a light, a wireless mic, and all of a sudden your small camera is fairly heavy, maybe too much for the 2000
edit2 the great thing about the smoothshooter vest, is that you can now hold your 12 pound or so device at full arm reach, in front, or beside you (pointing back to film behind you without filming yourself) for as long as you want
Yea I have an xh a1, not to light of a camera, 'specialy with lens adapters on. I dont think I can spring for the glidecam this moment tho… hopefully soon tho. Ive been thinking of making that upgrade for a while now.
The 2000 would make for some very fancy shots with one of the sonys with smooth slow record. mmmmmm.
How come with all the new fancy cameras with frame rate options more dont have a highspeed record option? I would love to be able to get the picture quality of my canon or something like that sony, at 240 fps.
aint that how it goes.
Im assuming yer just stating how irony works. Tho I cant help but to ask wether you say that knowing it will be a feature to come?
Ive seen some pretty nice stuff shot with sonys little handycams. Whats the big hold up?
i can’t wait to fall off a unicycle with this one!
to be honest though, seeing something at 50% speed while still perfect and clear allows a great slow motion ability that is present in Premiere Pro CS3 a lot of room to slow it down, nicely, even further
I am very impressed with these shots. Even after the compression for youtube, still very very smooth. I cant figure out why it took so long for this to happen. It looks as if sony has put this feature on every hand held hdr camera.
