Last year, I attempted to take part in Bordeaux Saint-Malo. After 440 km, I decided to give up, because it was too hard, because I was afraid of spending a third night outside, because it was too long, and for plenty of other reasons. I then told myself that more than 200–250 km a day was too much, and that it wouldn’t be reasonable to sign up for events like this again.

Before that, when I did 100 miles for the first time, I asked my brother to insult me if I ever wanted to do it again. And I did it again. And I did 200 km. And I said it was too much. And I went to the INSA 24-hour race. And I said I didn’t want to do it again. And I went back. And I attempted endurance records.

You can probably see where this is going. I’m continuing my usual habit of always coming back for something harder, getting closer and closer to the limits of what’s possible on one wheel, and above all, not keeping my promises to stop.

Some of you may know that, for 136 years now, a cycling race has been starting in Paris, heading towards my hometown: Brest (yes, I’m not entirely Norman), before returning to its starting point. I’m talking about Paris-Brest-Paris (yes, they didn’t put much effort into the name).

This event takes place every 4 years, and the next one is in 2027. It’s a year without Unicon or any other major event in the unicycling world. So it’s the perfect year to set myself some challenges. And so, my challenge for 2027 will be to qualify, then make it to the starting line, and finally reach the finish line of this legendary event within the 90-hour time limit. All of it on one wheel.

Is it possible? I don’t know.

Is it really hard? Yes.

Am I scared? Yes.

Am I also a little excited? Yes.

For now, my schedule is:

- Les Marais Blancs (BRM 200) on January 23,

- Cap ou pas Cap (BRM 300) on April 10,

- P’tit BSM (BRM 400) on May 14–15,

- Saint-Lô – Loudéac (BRM 600) on June 12–13.

We’ll see how things evolve during my preparation, and of course, I’ll keep you updated.

This looks both amazing and mad (in a good way) - I have found the best enterprises in life are often ‘scarey but exciting’.
You don’t actually say the distance of the P-B-P finale - I presume more than the last preparation event. I’m with the majority of riders here I expect, who wouldn’t even dream of doing the first of your preparation events even!
Good luck and keep us informed and inspired :uni: 💪

1.200 km and 12.000 m altitude within 90 hours? This is absolutely insane. Even the brevets you have to finish before being allowed to sign in are crazy enough.
I wish you all the best luck!

I know that I can do the 200 km brevet in less than 10 hours (it is actually my goal). The 300 should be fairly easy (targetting 15-16 hours). The difficulty comes with the 400 km brevet, and the 600 will be the first really big challenge and step ito an unknown worl for me.
