Hi all,
Read on to see what this is about, but the short version is that some guys here in Ottawa are making a short (10 minute) movie based on unicycling and think it would be great to have a bunch of uni riders in it! Nathan, Wolfgang, where are ya!
Here’s what the director/writer sent me:
“Dave, thank you for offering to act in our short film project. We came up with a few short film ideas (we can’t start working on it until we get the criteria and rules Thursday evening). I think this short film could be visually stunning and if you are available all of Saturday (and possibly Friday?), this short film could be the film festival winner. We came up with something that you would be absolutely perfect for. If you are comfortable with the idea, you would be the lead character and your role would involve unicycling.
In short, this film would be called “Uni” and it would be about a university professor who has a fascination with words that start with “Uni”, which is why he became a University professor. His office (which will be filmed in a real university professor’s office at the University of Ottawa) would have unicycles, unicorn statuettes and he would teach a course called “Universal Truth”, have a unibrow, etc. This film would be a “day in the life” of this very eccentric professor (unicycles to class, in the hallways, to work, etc.).
We’d love to your uni friends for the short film but we’ll need to know pretty soon if they can make it or not because that will affect the story (and I’m sure that if we can get a bunch of unicyclists together for the short film, we can blow the film festival judges away!). We were thinking that the professor can have such an influence on his students and the university campus that by the end of the film, all his ex-students and staff members roll around campus on a unicycle. Still a work in progress. We are rushing to get this story right.”
If you live in Ottawa (one of the contest rules requirements) and are interested and free on Saturday Jan 23, message me back with a phone number to reach you. Lifts can be arranged if you need one. And of course, this gig is non-paying!
The contest is explained here:
