Livestrong

I’m just curious. How many of you folks wear LIVESTRONG bracelets, as seen at http://www.laf.org and http://www.wearyellow.com? I got mine in the mail today, and I decided I’m not going to take it off unless I absolutely have to, or it breaks. Cancer can be beaten.

That fad is soooo last year.

I got a couple last year when they were hyped during the Tour de France. I wear it when I go Coker riding. It makes me go faster.

Just make sure you’re buying the real thing and not a fake from a scalper. There are fakes around and the money from those doesn’t go to the LAF.

I had one from June of last year till aboug September. I didnt take it off untill it broke. It was cool for a little while but got old fast when every jock and slut on campus were sporting them to be cool. Now it seems everyone has 2 or 3 different color bracelets like them. I just dont see the point to wear em anymore. Perhaps Lance will keep up with the trend and sell yellow striped socks for a dollar next year.

exacly, i heard that there is only 4 places you can get the real ones.

  1. Lances web site

  2. Nike town stores

i cant remember the other two but there is only four. anywhere else is a scam.

have you heard of livewrong braclets? they are the anti version of the pirate yellow ones.funds going to bikes for kids and stuff but be carfull wearing a LiveWrong grey braclet, high and mighty trendies that wear yellow may not think its a just cause or even know that the yellow one they are wearing could be made in china and not be supporting cancer funding at all.

Tsunami blue ones.fake!

green “support the Troops” fake!

if you dont research where it came from you are getting scammed most likely. even the Pink Breast cancer ones sold at your nearest convienant store are fony. no money goes anywhere for cancer.

  1. Discovery Chanel Stores

Some local bike shops carry them. If you trust the bike shop to be on the up and up. They should be selling them for $1. They make no money on the sale. But its a game of do you trust the bike shop.

I have a one its real. I have been wearing it since June to this day. I don’t believe in taken it off because to many other people where them, I just believe that it is for a cause, and I want to show that I made a donation. I ordered mine from the LAF store. My friend got one from the mall, it looks the same but the yellow is very faded out. And its starting to rip in places. I asked him how much he paid for it and he told me $3.00. I told him that isn’t going towards the cancer, its going towards the store you got it from. He said I don’t care I wear it for style.

There are read bracelets that say Give blood, i think. You get those after you donate blood to the read cross. Those are legitement.

The only pinks ones that I know go towards breast cancer are the ones you could purchase from Target. I do not know if they sell them anymore.

And 7-11 was selling blueish ones to go towards Tsunami relief. They cost $3.00 which I think is way to expensive, and the 7 11 is receiving some of a profit, and they are donating a little bit of money to the cause.

I bought a couple of those almost the day the came out. Everyone was wondering what they were. Ya don’t see that much any more.

P.S. Im wearing one right now.

Along with “Orange Power” for the Oklahoma State University and a blue “Cure Diabetes.”

I got mine about five months ago, and haven’t taken it off for longer than about a minute at a time yet (: I also have a pink one for breast cancer that says ‘together’ which I wear forever as well.

I tihnk they have become way to much of a fashion statement. I would buy one if they weren’t what they’ve become.

I also feel that if you do care about the charity then you would donate directly to them and then they’d get every penny.

what exactly have they ‘become’?

I had a livestrong one but it broke. I like the livewrong ones better but I haven’t ordered one yet.

I wanted to get some black MUNI MILITIA bracelets made, but I didn’t want to spend $1000 to get them made.

Oh, I forgot to mention:
a girl at my school, her parents manufacture black bracelets that say ‘I DID NOT VOTE 4 BUSH.’ I used to have one, but then realized I don’t know exactly why I don’t like Bush aside from the fact that he is undeniably stupid. So until I’m an informed citizen, I’m gonna stay out of it (:

I’ve heard about this stuff, but I think its generally passed me by. I’m not sure buying a braclet or band is something I’d do for charity, people seem far more willing to pay me a lot more to ride my unicycle down mount snowdon. Its something I enjoy doing and yet people will pay money to charity because they think i’m suffering or something. I’m loving it, and up until now have done it 3 times without any charitable cause to back.

Luckily I haven’t ever got close enought to Uni-Matt or a Chav to notice :p.

Loose.

OMG!! every one in our school has at least 2 of them on there wrists! its crazy!! I must be the only one who dont have a 1 :astonished:

yea i never have wore a livestrong one- but i have two. one that says hope and i think its for cancer- and one in memory of my cousin.

What exactly is the point in them? Are they mean to raise awareness, or funds?

Dave

Bracelets are just a fad, like Pogs.

Except pogs weren’t gay.

My wife gave me one that she got from Lance, but I havn’t worn it. I do wear the Red one I got from the Diabetes Association with my ride packet for the Tour de Cure. It helped me raise funds if someone asked about it.

You’re thinking too small!

pogs were DUMB, they were little round pieces of cardboard. these are little round pieces of rubber, BIG DIFFERENCE!!
